HAVE YOU CHANGED SINCE YOU JOINED SFF, AND HOW?

I wonder about the members here in SFF. Do you think you have changed since you joined the site? Some people have been here for 10 years or more, and I wonder if you, the members, hadnt joined SFF in the first instance, what would you be like now. Would you have changed in a different way,would you be a bit isolated, lonely, or does SFF have no effect on you at all. Change is usually a good thing, in the real world, but can a person in cyber world or on a Social Networking site change because of being here and if so would it have any influence on your thinking or judgment when you have been here for some years. It has been known to change the very young, if they are not rescued in time. Being popular is very important to most young people, until they discover how unimportant it really is. I have been here for over two years. I am in a 12 step programme which encourages change, so over the past 25 years I have changed in my real life, quite a lot really, from the person I used to be 25 years ago. I dont think a cyber site can bring about much change in a persons personality Recently someone said that I had changed but not for the better. That made me think about myself and if undue influences can be strong enough to encourage a person to be someone they are really not and if so, why. Do we honestly try to go along with the majority? Is it easier? I was never one to follow the crowd, I was never part of any group of women. It probably did bother me a bit when I was young, but as I made my own way through life, I became more independent and was happy to be a bit of a loner, - I liked my own company at times and didnt want any intrusion. I can get along with women much better now, but it has always been a big problem. I think I create barriers. I came here with my own personality, and I feel I still am the same person. In the real world I have been described as a very private person. I wonder what other people feel about all this. Im really interested. I know men can feel left out of the crowd too, but do they have their own way of dealing with it. I know a man who never went out without his wife or family, and doesnt know how to socialize on his own, even to go for a pint. My opinion is that for me, I am exactly who I am, I doubt if a cyber or social site can change me from the real person I have always been and the only changes I can make to myself are in my real life. A lot of people joining social sites can be left vulnerable by the loss of a partner, husband/wife, divorce, and the self esteem and confidence might be gone for awhile. Encouraging words, no matter here or in your real life, can be just that, encouraging, and help to get you back functioning again, as has happened here, and as I learned from the sharing from members. While I was looking at the pictures from the St.Petes Bash, I wondered, when I saw all the women getting on so well, would I truly have been happy there, even tho' I said I would love to have been part of it.

Well Folks, Im sitting here, 7 o'c pm in Ireland, gloomy and wet, and dark, and Im STARVING TO DEATH.Tomorrow is D day for me. I have to get up and go to the Torture Chamber for my test. I was having a lovely deep sleep this morning, dreaming of counting lashings of money, when the phone rang and my gorgeous man said "Good morning my love, wake up and take your medicine"! Well folks, everything changed after that.Downhill from there. No money, I realized what day it was, and I prepared myself for a day of giving myself a good clear out, and starving myself to near death. So far, I cheated once. I was told I could have BLACK TEA!!!!! Black Tea is something the Irish take when they're making a pilgrimage up the Lough Derg Mountain to gain some salvation for their souls in the next life. Well, Im not going on a pilgrimage, so, Im sorry to say I put 2 spoons of the most beautiful sugar into my tea, and Im beginning to feel slightly human again. My darling Len, sent me a txt at 1.45. TO TAKE MY SECOND DOSE OF POISON !!!!!! which I took. I cant stop looking at bananas, ham, even dry bread would be scrumptious, and every time I turn on the TV its full of advertisements for food, drink, chocolates, cakes, and the Lidls supplement that came with the daily paper is full of Christmas Goodies, Cakes, Wine, ORANGE, God I'd love some orange. Enough said, Im off to pack my bag, I know how the inmates on Death Row feel, I have great empathy with them all tonight. Whoever organized this regime should be shot. NO FOOD ON THE DAY PRIOR TO THE TEST. I'll probably faint when I get there and they'll keep me in for weeks. Im laughing or I'll cry. (with hunger). Remember me tomorrow folks, I'll try and keep laughing, even through the horrors and indignities I will HAVE TO SUFFER. Cheers folks.

When my Mother was in a Nursing Home for oldies, for respite care, many years ago, I remember one of the nurses would try and encourage some light entertainment for these patients, many of whom were a bit gaga, and many who werent. She started a singing session once, and suddenly out of the blue, this patient started to sing "I'll take you home again Kathleen" , - a lovely rendering of a lovely song.Everyone was surprised that she had such a beautiful voice. This woman never spoke when she was in there but she loved singing, but, noooooooooo, the others didnt like her getting all the praise and attention, so they started a good honest Old Fogies Fight in the middle of this lighter moment, and she stopped singing and withdrew back into herself. My reaction was WHY CANT PEOPLE RELAX ENOUGH TO ENJOY SOMETHING THAT IS BEAUTIFUL, HAPPY, NORMAL, and think about another persons happiness. Even in their dotage!!!! well, a lot of them anyway, the old selfish, resentful and childish side to these women still came out to destroy a nice moment. Do people change in their old age, well, in this case, the women who still had their faculties, still showed their childish side and all craved the attention and limelight. Does anything change. I'll never forget that day, I was enjoying the song, joined in, and then BANG - a crowd of bitter oldies shut her up, I hope not for good. KEEP SINGING, Be glad to be alive, thank God for your health, be grateful to get out of bed in the mornings without too many aches and pains, - Thats how I start my day.

RECESSION;

I have heard in the news that yesterday America came out of a recession, UK has an improved housing market, and things are improving all around generally, but yet, here in Ireland we are facing the reality of going deeper into a decline. Nobody seems to know what they are doing, the Government is a total disaster and not to be trusted, all lining their own pockets, the public, including older people and public sector, have had to bail out the Banks, yet, come the Budget in December, there will further huge cuts right across the country, even the Pensioners, people on Social Welfare, Nurses (already overworked and underpaid) Postal workers, Ambulance Services, will all be hit. On Nov.6th there is a huge demonstration planned outside Dail Eireann (Government Buildings) and on 24th Nov. the country will go on strike,enmasse, or so we have all been threatened. For me, its not the end of the world, they will probably deduct under 20 Euro off my weekly pension, I have never been short of money so far, but young people just out of College have no jobs ,there are no jobs available in Ireland at present,and they are depending on the state for funds. These young people are all moving home with the parents, and as a lot of the parents have already lost their jobs due to closure of a lot of businesses here, how can they all manage, especially if they cut the dole money (Social Welfare for unemployed). Young people who lost their jobs are also losing their homes as they cant pay their Mortgage. Im wondering how US can come out of a recession in one day!!!! I can see things getting gradually worse in Ireland, before they get better. Im hoping something will happen soon, to change the economy. We have all cut back as much as we can. The housing market is seriously damaged and we have been signed over to the Lisbon Treaty, - (not my vote) so things are supposed to become rosy because of that. I think not. Our Government ministers, Bankers, Builders, Millionaires, all have their own interests at heart, not ours. If I was young again, or if I was a young person living in Ireland, I would seriously think of emigration. The young people in Ireland are not given a chance, retired nurses are called back to work, retired teachers are called back to work, and young nurses,teachers, and young people in general, are left to manage as best they can. A lot of the young have left Ireland, once again, and I dont blame them. The older workers should stand down, at a certain age, and give the young a chance. We had that chance when we were young. I was never unemployed in my life. During the years of the so called Celtic Tiger Ireland was booming, everyone wanted a piece of the country. money was plentiful, where did it go? Foreign banks, Government holidays, Government pensions, Government expenses while they stayed in the best hotels, chaffeur driven everywhere, helicopters to go to work!!!! Sorry for going on, Im VENTING about my own country but I have reason, we in Ireland are in a pretty bad state just now. It can only get better, I HOPE

 Every year, after all my roses have died and my garden looks a bit empty and desolate except for a few palm trees, this beautiful yellow rose flowers. This rose bush has been in my garden for years, it fades away around October, and then each year a new bud grows, and stays with us right through Christmas. I have never seen roses lasting so long, or so late in the year. This is the rose bush that my Christmas Rose stems from.

IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A PARTNER, WHY NO PHOTO?

This morning I had 115 viewers, out of these 40 were faceless. Why are you faceless people afraid to show yourselves, are you ugly, hiding something, dont want anyone to know who you are, have a few different handles, or just secretive by nature. Well, Im not looking for any partner here as I already have one, but when I came here first, I felt the most important thing to do was to show my face!!! and then to write a decent profile that was honest. If I were any of the members here looking for a partner, serious relationship, or marriage, as most people say, I would never reply to a faceless wonder. I have been hotlisted by a ten members, at least 4 or 5 of them under 40!!!! Why do young men want a woman old enough to be his mother??? I remember simple days when things appeared to be normal, we all went out with our own age group and the only older people in our lives would have been our parents, relatives, etc. How things have changed. The world today is so mixed up and weird, gays and lesbians, young men looking for older women, older women wanting young men, cross dressers looking for ......men! women! Im totally confused. To finish, the only suitable match showing up on my front page for the past two weeks is a male member, who comes from Ireland, is happily married and probably doesnt even know he is there. You need to have a sense of humour here, and Im glad I have.

RESPONDING TO BLOGS HERE IN SFF.

I have always tried to respond to most of the blogs here in SFF since i arrived. I prefer to respond to some than others. Im not sure why I go into other peoples blogs that I hardly know at all and try to add something positive or helpful. Over the years I have noticed that a huge number of participants here never come in to my blogs or make any comments. It doesnt bother me, but as I have always made the effort to respond to most, I no longer am going to make the effort. I never hear from them dont really know them from adam, and wonder why I feel its good manners to reply. Something to do with my upbringing I suppose. Its not really good manners at all, except to me. It usually makes no difference to the person I respond to as they dont ever ever get in touch with me in any way. What a relief this is to me. Now I just have a few people to comment on so my life will be easier, and my time here less frequent. I now feel I have other things to occupy my day. Sometimes this site can be very depressing, hurtful if you allow it to be, and thoroughly stupid, especially the blogs page. I have never been a people pleaser but I do like to be a person with an open mind. There are many here I have come to like in cyperworld. Sometimes I think Im good friends with an individual, and for some unknown reason they cease to get in touch with me and dont talk to me at all again, ever. Their loss I tell myself, but Im not very forgiving and dont go back there ever again. It takes time to find your way around SFF. I has taken me around a yr and a half, A lot of members meet up in SFF bashes etc. I rarely get to meet people from this site. I did write to some Irish but they never replied. Ignorance is biss!!!!! I have been to the school of hard knocks before coming here, and now I am in the Finishing School which also can produce some hard knocks. As we get older we get wiser. Cheers folks.
