Hi Folks, Im reminding myself of just why I came here to this site. For friendship, laughs, maybe a bit of love thrown into the bargain, communication, honesty, because I was lonely, a chance to write and express myself, sharing myself and fulfilling my interest in others, happy days, sad days, good days, bad days. If I had joined this site recently, what would I have found? I came in at the right time. I have met all sorts of people and have found love and happiness. Looking through todays blogs, I honestly wonder if I would have stayed if I had come into SFF now. I will never know. This photo reminds me of the summer days with Len as today I sit shivering in the cold Winter winds of November. I have to say I have been blessed with this gorgeous handsome man!!! He is the centre of my world today. I didnt come here looking for a relationship or even love, but I found more than that. Dont give up folks, dont get bogged down with bannings, anger and resentments, keep up the spirit of community that we have here most of the time. Love makes the world go round.

This is the Cliff Walk from Bray Head through to Greystones. Not for the weak hearted! Its a very popular walk, beautiful in summer, but walking clubs use it all year round. I love Bray Head.

[sample] Im trying to remember just how old this photo is. This Scottie is only a half bred scottish terrier but he sure was noble. When I got married, aged 27, this was my first "child". We adored him, his name was Mike and he was sold cheap because he was a bit shy. When he arrived in our home he was only about 3 months old, probably was the runt of the litter, but he lived to a ripe old age and was thoroughly spoilt. Its such a long time ago, I remember the breeder came to the house to make sure we were "suitable" parents! He certainly thought so. I actually can remember taking this photo even that long ago, and I also remember the curtains on the window. Our first house, our first dog. Way to go Mike

Let us out to that mouse!!! Robbie, Gregor and Jessie watching the antics of a mouse who was feeding her young under the garden shed. She came in and out for almost an hour, going backwards and forwards with the food left for the birds. Such a diligent little mouse. Myself, my daughter Susan and our 3 four legged friends were very entertained. It was some time during the year, Im sure when exactly.

This is my first born daughter Helen, with her husbands dog Sable, who died 2 months ago from old age. He was a huge big cuddly bear, and himself and the cat, Steffi, used to sit on the couch together. Now Sable and Steffi are both gone to doggie and cat heaven. Helen is with Sable in this, my favourite picture, on her husbands boat which is moored in Co. Clare. They spend most of the summer week-ends on the boat. Her husband has a crew which includes his elderly father, and he takes part in the races. The two kids are already keen sailors!!!

A month or two ago a member decided to take a break because of the "disagreements", "Dysharmony" and was back again in a week or two. A few pages of blogs followed saying "Dont go, you are my favourite blogger, philosopher, friend, comrade, honourable person on this site, we will miss you. Please stay" The person in question never went anywhere. 50Talland is back having had all the adulations posted his way. Im glad you got back 50Talland but Im wondering why people remove their profile or get banned and can come back again the next day. I would hate to be under the pressure that some people here have put themselves under.I was taken to task in the early days here because I was stupid enough, or should I say uninformed enough to say I couldnt put up with the chit and was thinking of leaving!!! I dont remember anyone holding a memorial service for me and what a loss I'd be to the site!!!! I have my head securely planted in place today and Im careful never to say I am leaving, but I do have a good little laugh to myself when I hear others are going for awhile as they cant put up with the way this place has turned out. Its just like a community of old people living together, except its in cyberworld. I havent been lucky enough to find a sister, but I have found my love, and that is a blessing for me. Sisterhood/brotherhood is alive and kicking in the Land of the Aged.

I love this picture. It was taken in a beauty spot in Co.Wicklow. If Ireland had the Californian sunshine, it might turn out to be the most popular holiday resort in Western Europe! However, if we didnt have the constant rain, we would not be so green. Weather and costs send the tourists to other destinations. Northern Ireland is now becoming popular, after we have hopefully seen the last of the troubles, and the people up in the 6 counties deserve to get some holidaymakers and sightseers. Its a beautiful spot, as Teresa has already described very well. To have such beauty on your doorstep is a blessing.

I havent been feeling too good recently with flu like symptoms. Im not really good at being "out of action" as I am usually busy and active. I couldnt do anything ,but I kept pushing myself. Today is the first day ,since last Friday that I have felt a bit more human again. I spent today just listening to some of my favourite music which I have downloaded. Some are old favourites that I used to listen to when I was young, including The Trout Quintett(Schubert), The Robins Return, (my sister used to play this on the piano when we were only teenagers and I thought it was magic back then, and still do. More of my favourites are Catch the Wind (Dylan), Bette Midler, Roger Whittaker. Its amazing how music helps me to relax and gives me that "feel good feeling "again. Music has always been part of my life and I love a variety of music, even went back to the days of Marty Robbins, Marianne Faithfull, and I like Dr. Hook. For me, music is The Great Escape.

If I see the word FUN on this blog page any more, I think I will throw up, literally. In my dictionary FUN means enjoyment or amusement. TO MAKE FUN OF means to mock or tease. The Get-Together in St.Petes was fun, for some. Some people paid a high price. Tell me, how can a bitching week-end be fun? I dont think I would fit in particularly well, not because I wouldnt want to but because I never fit in well with groups of women anyway. Like Rosie, I prefer to be with a group of men. What about unconditional love.... we are all different. We have to try and accept that fact. Bonding between a big group of women isnt natural, it doesnt last. I find men more honest and outgoing. (Take a bow men). I would prefer to have a conversation any day with a man, rather than a woman, and theres nothing wrong with that. I know men who would prefer to chat to a woman, or women. If someone doesnt feel comfortable trying to fit in and be what others want from them, well, why not let them be themselves. I read that one member was discussed and it was decided that people at the Bash would go a bit easier on her in Blogland in future. Isnt she a lucky lady. I wonder how she will live up to the requirements of the majority. I wouldnt want to. Am I doing well being a bitch? I will have to practice a bit more. Im not perfect by any means, neither is anyone else, but Im at a loss to understand how people cant get along just for a few days. I have just been watching The First Wives Club and had a good laugh at the 3 women involved, but I know I would have to work very long and hard on myself to be like them. I have worked very hard on myself over the years, a lot of things changed and my attitude to life changed, but I know where I fit in and where I dont. Im the first one to enjoy a good laugh, Im anything but serious, but I draw the line, for myself, when it comes to backbiting. I tried it and I just cant do it. Today is Veterans Day. I wrote a blog this week on the unwinnable war in Afghanistan. That was my simple dedication to the soldiers from the UK, Northern Ireland and US. My two uncles died in the first world war and never came home, they are buried in France. Maybe we should have an Armistace Day in SFF Blogland and Chat. I dont think I fit in here all that well, I log-in for A BIT OF FUN!!!!! Its sadly lacking lately. So many people are gone. I dont blame them, Im not surprised. We dont have FUN in Ireland, we have "a bit of craic," " a good laugh" anything but FUN. I will continue to have a bit of craic.

THE SCOTTISH SOLDIER (And Afghanistan, the Unwinnable War)

Last week I watched on BBC TV the very sad funeral of a young Scottish soldier who died in Afghanistan. His family were so dignified, sad, and courageous. We will never know what he experienced, what horrors he saw while in that foreign country, fighting for peace. During the last week 6 British Soldiers were killed, also 3 soldiers from Northern Ireland 201 altogether since the war began. I heard the most beautiful rendering of the song "The Scottish Soldier" played by some pipers in kilts, and sung beautifully by a Scottish tenor, and it would reduce anyone to tears.I dedicate this to all the young men who died in Afghanistan. They are all heroes. The Scottish soldier.
There was a soldier, a Scottish soldier, who wandered far away and soldiered far away, There was none bolder, with big broad shoulder, he fought in many a fight and fought and won. He'd seen the glory and told his story, of battle glorious and deeds victorious But now he's sighing, his heart is crying, to leave those green hills of Tyrol. Because these green hills are not highland hills, or the island hills, They're not my lands hills, And fair as these green foreign hills may be, they are not the hills of home.
And now this soldier, this Scottish soldier, who'd wandered far away and soldiered far away, see's leaves are falling and death is calling, And he will fade away in that far land. So he called his piper, his trusty piper, and bade him sound a lay, a pibroch sad to play Upon a hillside, but Scottish hillside, Not on those green hills of Tyrol.
And now the soldier, the Scottish soldier will wander far no more, and soldier far no more, And on a hillside, a Scottish hillside, You'll hear a piper play his soldier home. He'd seen the glory, and told his story, Of battles glorious and deeds victorious, The bugles cease now, he is at peace now, Far from those green hills of Tyrol.
Because these green hills are not highland hills, or the island hills, They're not my lands hills And fair as these green foreign hills may be They are not the hills of home.
