Scratching At The Stone Nov 17, 2009 5:07 pm
152 Views
But one medium, really, but one tool also...
from the Mastermind down to the mind
and so, then, the steadfast and studied
schematic scrabble...
the artist taking his/her place
within the realm of those testing the stone,
none greater than the next,
merely in a given place and time,
scratching.

Call it brilliant, still shall the wave of time
wash upon the shore of reality and erase it,
though it would have its day in the sun...
held up to the light observed in the making
and remaking of itself, Art a constant...sand
through the hourglass, moving...the hourglass
forever upended, hence the evolution –
and devolution – of form...
the continuum.

All the better that the artist knows
the vis vitalis contained therein,
down to the last solitary grain,
fully apprised that all sand was once stone
and all stone was once sand,
in witness, thereof, so much
for the scratching.

Sometimes A Dream... Nov 16, 2009 12:06 pm

Sometimes a dream is little more than that
and you forget upon your waking hour
dispersed the "dust" and this in nothing flat
deduced in this it never had the power.

But then again some dreams will linger on
and you will dwell upon a puzzling part
ongoing notes as from a whistling swan
in echoes heard that hammer at your heart.

Recurs that dream to mystify the mind
a world that spots you staring into space
to wonder now the way that you're inclined
bewilderment that's etched upon your face.

Sometimes a dream is hard to understand
like wizards are when using sleight of hand.

A Shift In Gears Nov 13, 2009 1:58 am

It's good to pause assessments being made
on things we do and how we come across
each move we make a message that's conveyed
that now and then will leave some at a loss.

Rejoinders come from others all the while
the consequential curve compelling too
updates upheld whereas the master file
revised, as such, the vistas and the view.

The focal point upon the fulcrum falls
a balance drawn that tallies up the sheet
the aggregate that also makes the calls
faux pas then foiled we can avoid repeat.

It's good to pause refinement being key
a shift in gears from "was" to what will be.

Of Things That Interlock Nov 11, 2009 7:48 pm
209 Views
We'd search ourselves to satisfy our souls
or so we'd say in sweeping statements made
but throw the dice and see the way it rolls
a pin that's pulled from out a hand grenade.

Explode the myths before our very eyes
to think in terms of things that interlock
the surface stuff such proof we'd also prize
our feet that fall on pavement where we walk.

Dissatisfied with what has been revealed
we'd snap the stone for answers there as well
but while it's true the secret's therein sealed
in not our home inside the outer shell?

The postulate a point that's more than moot
is room now made for alternating route?

Heaven On Earth Nov 10, 2009 5:41 pm

I paced the pond conversing with the duck
a lesson learned with every single quack
unbound my mind which otherwise was stuck
a promise made to keep me coming back.

I walked the woods in dialogue with deer
and freedom's song had never been so sweet
a graceful gait that charged the atmosphere
a rhythm felt that truly moved my feet.

I waded streams and saw the fishes dart
and knew I'd chanced upon a different score
a silent swish that hammered at my heart
no symphony that ever moved me more.

I stepped inside and heard the infant coo
and gathered God was rather tearful too.

The Prophet's Place Nov 9, 2009 10:54 am

The prophet's place is oft misunderstood
to think in terms of miracles and such
conclusions drawn the gauging is the good
with wine availed upon that sacred touch.

Reminders come of abrogated rules
when for a fact the past has had its run
now offered up a treasure trove of tools
on barren beds whence rivers had their run.

Demystified the margins on the main
exposed the earth in angles once unclear
the world at large to read and ascertain
the lock in stone forever being here.

The prophet's place implies the Grantor's Trust
but that we've ground that granite into dust.

Springing The Board Nov 6, 2009 12:35 am

You spring the board the water down below
and briefly now you're up above it all
but as you rise there's something that you know:
a thing goes up that thing has need to fall.

You've played this out in every way you could
a play rehearsed upon the given stage
the angle wrong as well a wall of wood
that surface pierced you've chosen to engage.

Your safety net's the measure of the mind
adroit at things for weighing consequence
the future then a thing that you've designed
by studies made and use of common sense.

You spring the board with confidence and cool
the pool of life a splash – your kind of pool.

All Things In Time Nov 5, 2009 1:48 am

All things in time are made to fall in place
no arguments to mount contrariwise:
let some to boast of rainbows that they chase
the day does come no rainbows in the skies.

All things in time are measured and assessed
and some are pulled from out the current stream
removed, it seems, forever from the rest
perchance unclear the everlasting dream.

All things in time are stamped and reassigned
recycling meant to modify the "must"
therefore to brew a batch that's intertwined
unique the vat inside the Grantor's Trust.

All things in time are settled in the sun
till light reveals the All in all in One.

Luna's Silent Sweep Nov 3, 2009 5:03 pm
273 Views
The moon is full and filling up the skies
a silver sheen that's shorting out the stars
a spectacle that's dazzling to the eyes
held captive now the witnesses that are.

There's little match for Luna's silent sweep
no crystal ball that's ever held such gaze
a beauty borne enough to make you weep
the perfect pitch for peacefulness and praise.

The dreamers dream let oceans rise and fall
a pull so strong that tidal waves appear
the Universe that blesses one and all
whence in a word attributed the sphere.

Romanced the stone that fills those skies above
whilst poets' pens are now attuned to love.

Love is like that... Nov 3, 2009 2:11 am
281 Views
Last night, a friend lost her mother. Her mother
was deaf and had written on a slate that she loved
her. My friend is a world-class poet and wrote
and posted a poem, even in her trying hour. The
following is what I wrote and posted as a comment:

Love is like that...

When my daughter was small, I'd say, "So, how much do you love me?" And she'd reply, "I love you a hundred, daddy," in her mind a hundred meaning a whole lot.

Mothers are like that, too: they love a hundred, maybe a million, and the energies emanating from that love stir us to the bone, and we learn to love like that. We, too, love a hundred, and one of love's greatest components is the enduring strength it proffers upon us.

If we measure things in the flesh, of course, we miss the point: love, in reality, is endless. And when we allow for the endlessness, when we slip into it, knowingly and submissively, we are forever with the one who now resides there.

The slate upon which love is now written spans the vastness of forever, and while it may take special eyes to see it, to see it is to live it, and to live it is to access Eternity and to continue walking the communal course.

It is not about tears of sorrow, but of joy. It is not about an aching heart, but a heart bursting with gratitude and knowing. It is not about a wounded soul, for a soul has no wounds. It is, now, and always, about the profundity of Love. And Love is the Continuum. It has no equal but it imparts on us the Equal Opportunity.

Love, Richard
