 I will be doing some house/pet sitting for my aunt and will not be blogging again until at least next Tuesday. Horrors! They live about seven miles up the road from me, so I will most likely make a daily trek down to check my snail mail and get a little time on the pc.
Someone gave me an idea for a blog and I thought I'd leave this with you.
Momma's home cooking ~ is there something she cooks (or cooked) that was your all around favorite? My Mom is a great cook (course aren't all Mothers?) and I think just about anything she fixed I liked (that's one of my problems!). During the first few years after moving out on my own and I'd come home for a weekend stay, my Mom would always ask me if there was anything special I'd like her to fix. Most of the time I would ask her to fix roast beef with onions, potatoes and carrots.
Mom has always been one to create as she went along and her soups are the greatest. Even now I'll go over to visit and she'll be scrounging around in the refrigerator to see what she has to make a pot of soup.
Now for a little bit more of the other stuff. Just a reminder about the Tattoo contest. Be sure and read michianared's blog about it and get your pictures downloaded soon enough to be approved by SFF. Calling all those with a tattoo...UPDATE
See you all next week!

MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS

 Do you, or have you, played a musical instrument? If you don't, and you wish you could, what would it be?
I know a couple of horn men here on SFF and one guitar man. Oh, and an accordion player too.
My Mom had an accordion and I remember dancing around as a little girl when she would play it. She got it when she was 13 years old ... still has it. She now has a nice keyboard that she plays ... all by ear. She's good too. We also got a piano when I was in my early teens and I have some wonderful memories of us all around it as Mom played. I come from a family of singers as well and there was always a lot of 2-3 part harmony going on.
I inherited my paternal grandmothers piano in the mid 80's. She said I was the only one of her grandkids that would sit down and play. I too play by ear, and only for my own entertainment. I did take a few lessons but not enough to give me a right to say I play the piano.
I unfortunately had to give up the piano when I moved here to Redding. Its still "in the family" so thats good. My brother gave me his old keyboard when he got a new one and I have that to play on when the mood strikes me. It's a great way to relax.

LOVE NEVER FADES

 Recently I have been having fun putting together a playlist of my favorite songs, most of which are songs from my childhood. Songs my mother use to play from her assortment of record albums. I've also picked out a few from some artists that I have heard in the past but do not have a personal collection of their music. One of them is Enya, and it is one of her songs that has inspired me to write this blog.
The title of the song is Amarantine. According to Wikipedia "The word means "unfading" or "one that does not wither." It is commonly used in the forms amaranth or amaranthus in reference to flowers of specific orders. There is no such word as Amarantine in the English dictionary however Enya has derived it from the Greek "amarantos".
As I listened to the words of the song I began to think about the Love that dwells within us, in our spirit. A love that does not come from an outside source, but deep within our very being. The Love that we are born with. As we grow and experience life, depending on those experiences, some of us may have a greater capacity to love outwardly than others. However, I feel we all have the potential for loving far beyond what we would ever think we are capable of. This is the Love that never fades away, never withers. It may be buried under a lot of dirt and rubble, but it is there, and hopefully, if it is buried, it will eventually resurface.
This is the kind of love that is not determined by the outer garments of you or me. This is a love that is not determined by good feelings, or chemistry. This is a Love that just IS. Unconditional in all its giving.
So many of us are here on this site looking for love. Wanting to be part of a couple, intertwined in each others life, sharing everything that is from the very deepest part of us. I know that is what I desire. However, if I never find that, I still know that I have within me Love that will never fade away. It is what holds me together. It is what gives me strength and comfort when things of this world disappoint me. I know I can still give Love and by giving I truly receive.
I Corinthians 13:4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
~~~~~~~~~~
Enya Amarantine You know when you give your love away It opens your heart, everything is new And you know time will always find a way To let your heart believe it's true You know love is everything you say A whisper, a word, promises you give You feel it in the heartbeat of the day You know this is the way love is
Chorus Amarantine Amarantine Amarantine Love is always love
You know love may sometimes make you cry So let the tears go, they will flow away For you know love will always let you fly How far a heart can fly away
Chorus
You know when love's shining in your eyes It may be the stars fallen from above And you know love is with you when you rise For night and day belong to love
