Love come softly, brush against my heart
Yearning for its closeness, not ever to depart
In God’s Infinite Wisdom, I place my life,
And trust for tomorrow, what be, what might
Whatever path this love may go
It carries with it the willingness,
to let it go
And hope that one day, it will again, brush against my heart ....
To stay forever.

MY MOVIE REVIEW OF GHOSTTOWN Oct 4, 2008 8:11 pm
822 Views
I read a few reviews on this movie before I went to see it. The synopsis didn't sound anything different than some of the other "I see dead people" movies and tv shows we have currently. However, the reviews were very favorable, so I decided to take a chance on it and go.

I'm glad I did.

It's the story of a dentist who is grumpy and could careless about the people around him, and then one day during a medical procedure he dies for 7 minutes. For some reason, after he is brought back to life, he is able to see those that have passed on, and they start following him around trying to get him to do them some favors for unresolved issues left at the time of their own deaths. The focus is really on one "spook" in particular.

It is a very funny and heart warming movie with a nice ending. I highly recommend it.

WHAT IS THIS?? Oct 4, 2008 12:57 pm

Okay, give it your best guess ... what do you think this is?

In this day and age of recycling, every once in a while I come by something that I think "gee, I should be able to find some sort of use for this?"

Its a cute little thing (I think) and quite useful in its made for purpose. In fact, whoever came up with it is quite ingenious in my opinion.

I don't know what the official name for it is, but for the sake of identification here, I'm going to call it the "Super Duper Coffee Plugger to Stop Spills Thingy"

Its a little doohickey that is inserted into the whole in the lid of the coffee cups you get through the drive thru coffee shacks. I love it! LOL (I'm so easily amused)

The one pictured here looks like a miniature guitar.

It just seems like there ought to be some other uses for this little piece of plastic. Seems a waste to just toss it. I suppose I could just start a collection, and maybe some day they'll be considered antiques and I'll make some money off of them. Lord knows, with as much as it costs for a 16 oz of just coffee (with two shots) I should profit from something, right?

I know, maybe I could use them as cheese or olive picks?

This one is proof that I participated! Periodically through the whole event they would have what they call "Inter-Tribals" where all the tribes would dance/walk around the area. Each dancing their specific style: the Grass dancers, Jingle dancers, Fancy Dancers, etc. Us non-Native Americans were also invited to join them, and after a little bit of coaxing from Bill, I joined in. After the first time, I was ready to go each time they had the Inter-Tribals.

I hope SFF allows this one to come through. It is a little boy about three years old. He was dancing out there like a real pro too. He was carrying two sticks decorated up with feathers and beads and was swinging those things around in rhythm to the drums. He was a real joy to watch! There were also some young girls that I thought were fantastic!

This, I believe, was during the "Men's All Around" ... I loved this picture because it shows off the beautiful bead work and feathers. Can you imagine all the time put into these?

I'm going to do a little clog blogging here, but I wanted to share a few pictures and this was one way of doing it. I will eventually get them posted on another site, but for now I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you.

ThatBillGuy wrote a blog about the Pow Wow and if you haven't read it yet click on this link to read all about it Ola2006 & the Still Water Powwow. He wrote a great blog describing what went on.

I hope that I get everything correct as I explain the pictures. If not, hopefully Bill will leave a comment to set it straight.

The following picture is of the Grand entry and Presentation of Colors. This took place right after the Grass Dancers blessed the ground where the dancing took place. The dancers are being lead by a spiritual leader (which Bill explains in his blog.)

THAT BILL GUY AND THE MAN HOLE BLUEBERRY PANCAKE Oct 2, 2008 8:12 am

I finally got my pictures downloaded so I thought I'd share this one with you this morning. I think I'm going to post some albums on the picture trail site, and I'll let you know when I do. I have some really neat pictures of the PowWow. Unfortunately the battery in my camera went "dead" after only a couple of pictures when we finally met up with Robrenee, Earthlover and Glorieux.

Anyway, here's the story about the pancake:

Our road trip down to San Diego was not bad at all, although we were in the wrong lane of freeway and got off of I-5 somewhere smack dab in the middle of L.A. traffic. That was a "trip" for sure. Bill's navigational skills came in very handy though and after making a brief stop for a potty break and some coffee, we got back on track and found our way to Cardiff by the Sea. Once we found the restaurant that we were to meet everyone the next day, we went looking for a place to bed down for the night. Knowing Bill, he would have been just fine putting back the seat in the car and getting 40 winks that way, but this girl needed a little more creature comforts.

We were fortunate to find a very nice place with a kitchenette. We had filled a cooler with meatloaf sandwiches and other goodies and relaxed and had dinner while we watched some TV.

There was a quaint little sidewalk cafe next to where we stayed, so the next morning we walked over and found a table outside to sit and enjoy our breakfast. This place apparently is known for its hash browns, and was appropriately called "The Tater Cafe." Thank goodness I ordered an omelet without the taters, because the serving size of the taters alone was enough for two people easily! Bill ordered french toast. We were sitting there enjoying our first cup of coffee, the morning was bright and sunny and it was promising to be a wonderful day.

Shortly after we ordered, the manager came out of the restaurant with his left hand in the air, holding up a plate with a pancake that was so big it hung over the sides of the plate. He asked in a loud voice "who would like to have a free Manhole Blueberry Pancake in exchange for doing a short video about it?" I quickly raised my hand, pointed to Bill and said "he will." I didn't even ask Bill first .... I was afraid someone else would grab at the chance if I didn't say something fast. Course, Bill was willing. He enjoyed every morsel of it and then gave his critique to the young man who interviewed him. The picture below was taken during that interview.

So, Bill's now a celebrity in the small town of Encinitas on the California seashore.

I did have to chuckle at one point in the interview after Bill had given a very good review about the flavor and texture of the pancake. The young man then asked him what he thought of Encinitas. Well, Bill didn't spare words and, although the town was nice, it was way too populated, and I'm afraid that part of the interview will probably end up on the "cutting room" floor.

ANALYZE THIS! Sep 26, 2008 7:46 am

Its been a busy week for me. Just a day after returning from a fantastic trip down to Southern Cali, my cousin arrived and has been staying with me while he spends some time visiting his Dad who just recently had surgery and is recouping.

Its been good "catching up" with him, but I am looking forward to things settling back down to its normal pace this coming week. I haven't even had a chance yet to download the pictures I took that I want to share with everyone. Hopefully, that will happen this next week.

ANYWAY, that isn't' what I wanted you to analyze. Okay, put your thinking caps on and tell me what you think. I had this dream, and I want to have some fun with it. Tell me what you think it means.

Dream~

I arrive early for an appointment. I don't recall what the appointment is for, but its a meeting of some sort. Since I have some time to spare, I decide to get some coffee. I walk into this BIG HUGE room and alongside one wall is where I get my coffee. Then, there are rows and rows (and I mean ROWS) of counters with pastries. The only thing is, they are not full of different kinds of pastries, but different shapes and sizes of Apple Fritters. (Apple fritters are my favorite) I now have to decide which apple fritter I want. I'm looking for just the perfect one ..... with just the right amount of icing, nice and crispy looking on the outside and gooey yummy on the inside. Some of the fritters are really big, and some are just maybe a bite size, but they all look slightly stale. I never do find that perfect apple fritter and end up leaving frustrated, with just my coffee.

Got any clues?
