Love come softly, brush against my heart
Yearning for its closeness, not ever to depart
In God’s Infinite Wisdom, I place my life,
And trust for tomorrow, what be, what might
Whatever path this love may go
It carries with it the willingness,
to let it go
And hope that one day, it will again, brush against my heart ....
To stay forever.

WHO SAYS ITS NEVER TOO LATE! Oct 18, 2008 2:32 pm

.... for 4th of July fireworks.

Yep, tonight we are having a fireworks display. Because of all the fires we had over the 4th of July, they canceled them, and promised us a show later when it became safer.

So, tonight is the night. I'm going to join my friend and his slew of kids and grandkids and I am really looking forward to it. I think I'll take along a thermos of hot chocolate and my blankie too.

Actually, its still pretty warm around here. I've had my ceiling fans going, plus another floor fan.

I'm going to go charge up my camera so I won't find myself in the same predicament I was when I went to see Barb and Ro and the battery went dead after only a couple of pictures! If I get any good pictures, I'll share them with you.

So, Happy 4th of July everybody!

Shrek, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were all having lunch together.

Shrek said, 'I have always thought that I'm the strongest man in the world, but how can I be sure?'

Angelina Jolie agreed. 'I'm told I'm the most gorgeous of them all, but sometimes I wonder.'

Brad Pitt said, 'I'm pretty sure I'm the sexiest man alive but I've never had it confirmed.'

They all decided that the best way to find out if their beliefs were true was to ask the famed talking 'mirror, mirror on the wall' to confirm for them whether Shrek was the strongest, Angelina Jolie was the most gorgeous and Brad Pitt was the sexiest.

They agreed to meet again the next day for lunch to discuss their
findings.

The next day Shrek walked up with a smile. 'Well, it's true. The mirror told me that I am the strongest man in the world.'

Brad Pitt perked up and said: 'And I know for sure that I'm the sexiest man alive.'

But Angelina Jolie lifted her sad, gorgeous face and said...

PROVIDING A MARRIAGE RESUME' Oct 15, 2008 6:50 pm
823 Views
I think we should start looking at marriage like an employer would look at a potential employee. What do you think?

The Potential Spouse (herein referred to as PS) would be required to provide at least THREE references before you would agree to say "I do." One of those references MUST come from at least one prior spouse (if applicable), another from a friend that would be guaranteed strict confidentiality of their identity, and the third, from someone the PS either works with, is a neighbor of, or someone from a local grocery store.

Seriously, this isn't such a bad idea is it? Granted, the ex-spouse (and/or lover) may be vindictive and not give a good reference, but then again, they just might provide some valuable information that could be a "deal-breaker."

Sure, you are in love, and might say "there is absolutely nothing anyone can say about blah blah blah to make me change my mind, cause I LOVE him/her."

Maybe the PS should provide you with a resume that includes a detailed relationship history. They should cover questions such as, how long the relationship lasted and why it ended. The PS should also describe what they brought (offered) to the prior relationship, and their behavior during. How did they handle stressful situations, financial disagreements, and failed expectations? What was their roll in resolution networking?

A job description should also be provided, listing the duties they performed, the percentage of time they put into the particular duty, and the quality of their work. It also would be a good idea to have them rate their attitude about said duties, using a scale of 1-10, 1 being "eager and willing," 10 being "I'm doing it only to shut up the nagging b*" (the b* word is determined by the gender of the PS)

Last, but I rather doubt it would be least, the PS should list the goals they wish to achieve in the marriage, why they should be selected, and what sort of compensation they expect.

Can you think of anything else?

What would your resume look like?

38 YEARS LATER Oct 14, 2008 8:41 pm

I was looking at some pictures tonight and came across the one below. It's actually two pictures, one taken in 1963, and the other taken 38 years later in 2001. Its a picture of my brothers and I and cousins during a family reunion.

When 2001 rolled around we thought it would be a great idea to do the picture again with everyone sitting/standing in the same positions they were in the original picture.

In case you are wondering, that's me ~ third from the left, in the back. My oldest brother is standing next to me. The unfortunate part about the picture taken in 2001 was that my younger brother, Gary (at the far right in the first picture), was unable to attend, and therefore missing from the second picture.

Just a bit of history to share.

Gosh, and its been seven years now since that second pictures was taken! Since that was taken, my Uncle John (back row, third in from the right) passed away, and my cousin Jo Lynn (first row, second from right) has been battling a brain tumor. Another cousin has divorced. Life just continues......

Nice looking bunch of kids, don't you think?

SOME FUN WITH EMAILS Oct 14, 2008 1:37 pm

Sometimes its just not worth getting all worked up over some of these ridiculous emails that we sometimes receive in our SFF mailbox. One such example came in mine today. I decided to have some fun with it instead.

(From someone I don't know) The email was a short one, letting me know that he would soon be moving closer (yet still in another state) to where I was and wanted to know if I would be interested in coming to visit him. First of all, I would never, in my wildest impulsive moments, go and visit someone that I have not had some good amount of correspondence with back and forth. What does he think I was born under anyway?

After checking out his profile, I knew we wouldn't be a good match because I didn't fit his ideal person, so this is what I responded back with:

"Thank you for your interest. However, after reading your profile and your description of your ideal person: ..."a slender blond with long hair and pretty eyes and nice firm breasts and a great ass...." I regret to inform you that:

I am far from slender, have short brown hair, my breast don't even know the word firm, and the only thing great about my ass is its size."

How'd I do?

BEATRICE AND EDNA Oct 12, 2008 5:55 pm

Beatrice and Edna, two 'senior' widows, are talking.

Beatrice: 'That nice George Johnson asked me out for a date. I know you went out with him last week, and I wanted to talk with you about him before I give him my answer.'

Edna: 'Well, I'll tell you. He shows up at my apartment punctually at 7 P.M., dressed like such a gentleman in a fine suit, and he brings me such beautiful flowers!

Then he takes me downstairs, and what's there but a luxury car...A limousine, uniformed chauffeur and all.

Then he takes me out for dinner... A marvelous dinner... Lobster, champagne, dessert, and after-dinner drinks. Then we go see a show. Let me tell you, Dorothy,

I enjoyed it so much I could have just died from pleasure!

So then we are coming back to my apartment and he turns into an ANIMAL.

Completely crazy, he tears off my expensive new dress and has his way with me two times!'

Beatrice: 'Goodness gracious!... So you are telling me I shouldn't go out with him?'

Edna: 'No, no, no.... I'm just saying, wear an old dress.'

HALLOWEEN EMAIL PRANKS Oct 10, 2008 5:43 pm

Okay, I'm onto you! It's that time of year when those serene little emails come through, with the surprise ending!

It caught me off guard the first time one arrived in my mailbox a few days ago, but now I know better. Any suspicious email I get claiming some sweet little message will be viewed with great caution. I turn the volume down, and I sit there with my hands over my eyes, peeking hesitantly.

Those dang things scare the PEEdoodle'n out of me!!!

All I can say is thank goodness Halloween comes around only once a year. I have enough gray hairs as it is!!

ANOTHER GLITCH OR WAS IT DONE ON PURPOSE Oct 10, 2008 8:39 am

Just to alert you if you don't already know. SFF has removed the little mail box at the top of the page, and apparently no no longer notifying us of new email. I'm referring to the number (1, 2 or 3 etc.) that would appear next to the mail box when new mail came in.

I discovered this last night when I went into my email page and found that I had received some new mail, but it didn't indicate that at the top of the page, which was when I also noticed the little mail box was gone.

Hopefully this is just one of those things they "forgot" to put back when they started redecorating. I sent them an email about it, but we'll see.

So,be aware that you may not be notified of new incoming mail.

IF IT AIN'T BROKEN DON'T FIX IT Oct 8, 2008 4:01 pm

I don't know what's going on, but it appears that SFF is trying to do some face lifting???? Whatever it is, I wish they'd leave well enough alone!

I shouldn't complain though. I am the type of person that is always redoing things. When I worked full-time I was constantly making lists, retyping instructions, and form letters. Not that there had been a revision, just that I wanted to change the look. It didn't need it .... served the same purpose it did before, but I just wanted the change.

Same goes for my apartment. I don't have a lot of room to work with where I am currently living, but in past places I was always rearranging the furniture in my living room about an average of every 3-4 months. Lucky for me I didn't have anyone else around to complain about it, cause I'm sure they would have.

I've also known women who have managed to be happy with the same hairstyle for most of their adult life. Not me. I go from long to short, short to long .... and occasionally frost or highlight. I'm always wanting a "change" (oooh there is that word!)

I had an acquaintance who use to live off of a large can of chili all week. I never could understand that. I love chili, but not every day of the week! I have to have a variety.

I guess that is also why I keep changing my profile picture? ya think?

FAITHFULNESS ~ MY THOUGHTS REGARDING DANDEE'S POST TODAY, ETC. Oct 7, 2008 1:25 pm
899 Views
I just want to share some thoughts from my heart.

DanDee posted a blog today, The Necklace, in which he presents a story meant to give an example of God's Love. I would like to expand on that on a more personal level.

In church this past Sunday, my pastor gave us an exercise. He read a portion of scripture, which included Psalm 36:5 Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies, while we sat and listened quietly. He then wanted us to focus on one word that "spoke" to us more than any other, concentrating on its meaning to us.

The word that came to my mind most strongly was "Faithfulness." God's faithfulness to me, His precious daughter. While I had my eyes closed, I imagined being embraced by the Lord. My head neatly and comfortably tucked under His chin. He then placed his hands on either side of my face and gently kissed my forehead. Looking directly into my eyes He tells me that He will never forsake me, nor leave me. He is faithful to me.

I have not suffered greatly in my life. I have suffered loss, and disappointment, but not to the extent many others have. However, in that loss and disappointment, I felt as if I could never be happy again. I wondered if the ache and pain I felt deep in my gut would ever go away, but even in my anguish, I felt peace. Not every single moment, but it was there.

I KNOW in my heart of hearts that I am Loved. It is a Love that surpasses all that a man could ever give me. It is a love that encompasses all that I am, and is a protective shield against the arrows of darkness that try so desperately sometimes to penetrate my spirit.

The message presented in DanDee's blog said this to me:

My Father in Heaven loves me and He has treasures for me that He wants to gift to me. These are not monetary gifts, but gifts that will bring me much happiness if I accept them. One of those gifts may, or may not be, finding a life-long partner. I believe I am coming to a fork in the road. When I reach it, I will have the opportunity to choose MY will as to whom is suited for me, or HIS will, which may not include a man, but still be a life full of contentment.

There have been too many nights to count that I have cried myself to sleep because I was lonely, and ached for the loving touch of a man. I still do at times. However, I choose to not settle for less than what I know the Lord wants for me. He does not want me to settle for faux pearls that will turn green and discolor my skin. He wants me to have the real thing, the real deal, the real pearls.

Wishing you all a set of genuine pearls.
