3 Way at the Lodge - Birthday Party that is
Lovelady2010 came to the Lodge to celebrate her Birthday with Rita and I - It was a Blast !!!
Below is a little Rhyme we put together after a few drinks.
Last Saturday Night with LovelyLady2010 Where you find her, you'll find all the men. She came to the Lodge just for the Party, It was a long drive so she was a little bit tardy.
But don't despair there were plenty of candles. And fun loving guys - some with love handles. There was dancing and singing and a few on guitars. After a lot of drinking, we didn't have to go far.
The next day we went fishing after breaking the ice. Then the sun came out and the day turned out nice. Regina showed us how to put a Big fish in the boat. After fishing and dancing we had to take off our coats.

As you can see by the picture we were happy she came. She joins other anglers on the "SFF Wall of Fame". For more Rhymes from our Home Visit us at The Blogger's Poem

Merry Christmas - Can I still say that?

A short Rhyme to thank everyone that saw me through this past year. If the title, (Merry Christmas) offends anyone - I'm sorry; however, not so sorry that I will change the way I was brought up or the way I feel about how our country is changing the way they celibrate the holidays.
Merry Christmas I look over my swamp and no snow do I see. But you still will get Season Greetings from me. To my family and friends I want you to know. It's the warmth in my heart that melted the snow. As Christmas approaches my feelings I can't hide. Remembering my sickness, you were there by my side. With words of encouragement, you made me want to live. And now that it's over these comments I give. Have a safe Holiday and remember the reason. Why each year we celebrate this season. Contact old friends and wish them the best. And pray for those that may be sick or at rest. You were there for me when I needed a friend. And now it's best wishes to you that I send. My Blog The Blogger's Poem is approashing 200 pages for those that like to rhyme, we are not all poets on the Blog but we are all friends.

Going to the Dell's in August (Looking for friends along the way)
No more Blogs about cancer; however, if you want info. email me. As I said in other Blogs - My priorities have changed.
The Wisconsin Dells bash will be held August 21 & 22 and from what I understand will be a GREAT TIME!
I'm heading up the PA and OH turnpikes to Chicago, are you close to either of these routes and want to meet face-to-face? I plan a day or 2 in the Chicago area before heading to the Dells.
I'm driving a small RV so will be fully self contained. The route back to Norfolk VA has not been determined, so is negotiable but I do not plan on going through Texas or California, (I'll have to see these friends on another outing).
Isn't life grand - I think so and plan to live it. BTW: I still have the Lodge but hired a full time manager.

This is NOT a Post on Dating, Long Distance Relationships or the NC Bashes.
When I came on SFF a few years ago I did a "Saga on Dating", it was fun and I met a lot of interesting people. One thing I learned fast was everyone has an opinion and on SFF they are not afraid to express it.
As you know, (or may not know) I just got over a bout with Stage 4, Prostate Cancer - I hope and pray they got it all.
I feel I must write this Blog because of the following reasons:
1. To thank all those on SFF that helped get me through the treatments and sharing their stories with me.
2. To advise all those not getting regular check-ups, to PLEASE do so.
FYI: I found out I had cancer when going to get my viagra prescription renewed. You studs don't wait that long.
I never really gave cancer a second thought before getting it. Now I have more Books and Publications on cancer then I do Fishing Magazines.
Go to Search and put in "Cancers and Seniors" and you have an immediate choice of brest, colon, lung, skin & prostate. WOW!
I did not know that cancer is the second top cause of death among adults over 65, (right behind Heart Disease.
Why did I NOT know this, is it that people don't want to talk about cancer?
I think we should. Has cancer effected you? - I'll bet it has, if not personally, then a member of your family or a dear friend.

Cancer and Me - The Countdown

It's almost over - And I want to Thank Everyone
For those that may not know me, about six months ago I found out I had cancer. I thought I was invincible having survived Nam and a few other close calls with death.
Cancer does not look at your past but sure can affect your future. I was very active on SFF and had a "Friend's Network" that I am still proud of to this day.
During treatments I became very close with the staff at the Cancer Clinic and wrote a short Rhyme I'd like to share with you.
Before I close this introduction I want to thank everyone that offered me their best wishes and I want to ask you all to get checked annually.
"The Countdown" Dedicated to the staff of the Regional Oncology Center

I'm starting this count down with the number ten. After 32 treatments, I feel we are now friends.
Each morning I have a ritual and a fight against time. But this morning I had a smile as I realized it was nine.
I fought the traffic each day so I wouldn't be late. But after 34 treatments, I now only have eight.
My mother had cancer and now is in heaven. I thanked God last night as I approached number seven.
The staff at the clinic, made me laugh with their tricks. And I'll miss their antics as I reached number six.
Having cancer was scary, but I'm still alive. I thank all of you for your care, as I passed number five.
As I write this Rhyme, I just finished number four. And thoughts of it being over followed me out the door.
Tomorrow will be Thursday, a new doctor I will see. But that's for other problems, with you, I only have three.
Friday I'll face the weekend and enjoy a brew. Knowing I just finished with number two.
Monday is my last treatment, my count down is at one. But I'll miss the staff at the clinic, for now I am done.
For all those that may read this, I want you to know. There are people to help you, make appointments and go.
