Darn! He Smokes! Jul 9, 2006 10:27 am

I am so disappointed. We met and he seems so nice, fun, handsome and might be worth getting to know on many levels. I can feel the anticipation, the connection, the attraction, the excitement. BUT HE SMOKES! I can smell it on him. It 's like kissing an ash tray not to mention the health issues if it ever turned into a long term relationship. Oh darn again. I have to have my boundries.

It really is an teeny tiny world we live in. To me, anyhow.

If we can truly see it that way, just watch how small our challenges can become.

That's the magic of a chosen perspective.

Fortunately, disappointments have little to do with circumstance and everything to do with perspective.
Everything. Don't you love Wednesdays!

Thoughts become some thing so start with a good one.

WOW! So many mixed emotions this morning. Amazed by the awesome power of nature. Feeling the fear of our changing weather and the panic of the three little dogs who don't know what to make of all that noise.

I woke this morning to the sound of rolling thunder. LOUD - VERY LOUD - rolling thunder. What's the big deal you might ask about thunder? This is Oregon! The Willamette Valley. We DON'T HAVE thunderstorms!! EVER! And, this has been going on for FOUR hours now. WOW! Amazing!

When it rains in Oregon it usually is a drizzle. I grew up in Michigan and lived on the east coast. Lightning and thunderstorms were something I've missed since moving to Oregon 7 years ago. Well, thank you global warming! (being sarcastic here)

BTW: have you seen Al Gore's movie "Inconvenient Truth"? I think it's must see for everyone. There is evidence to global warming all around us. This morning it's THUNDER.

Dog Days of Summer Jul 2, 2006 4:48 pm
Mood: adventurous, 241 Views
My friends, and their two teenage boys are gone for the summer. Off to Japan for some assignment for her work. Left behind - Gomer the 15 pound terrier. Poor Gomer. He is homesick, not eating well and soooo clingy. Can you imagine leaving your dog for 6 weeks! That's enough time for the guy to bond with another family.

I have 2 little dogs a silky terrier and a chihuahua and they are being so gentle with Gomer. It's amazing to watch. It's like they know Gomer is in pain. They are sharing their toys well and have included him in the pack.

It is not easy to have 3 dogs though. Have you ever tried to walk 3 dogs on leashes. It's a hysterical dance of tangles!

I keep thinking about the week that I am going to go on vacation....hmmmmm can't wait!

Powerful thoughts? Jun 29, 2006 11:17 pm

I believe that what we think about comes about eventually. We create our future with our thoughts today. What do you think?
Thoughts become things eventually
What I think about comes about
It just doesn't matter
It just happens to me no matter what I think about
Maybe - who knows

Sisters Jun 20, 2006 9:44 pm

My sister has been visiting me in Oregon. She and I have not spent any time alone together since we were kids and here we are spending a whole week together. What an adventure!

I was pretty worried about her visit. I thought she was such a strong willed, angry and opinionated woman. I have learned different. I have learned so much from her this week. She has a tough exterior and a big soft heart. She travels well and shares her toys and meals! She knows how to be flexible and follow her nose. She doesn't have to have every minute planned. She snores. She is funny and extemely observant, smart and creative too.

This week have been shopping in Sisters, laughed in the rain, wandered back roads on the coast, giggled in the sand on Agate Beach, snapped 523 photos of sunsets and flowers and shared every meal.

Sometimes when we're talking or laughing or just sitting, I see my mother in her, or my father. Just the way she holds her mouth or cocks her head reminds me of mom and dad. She reminds me of me.

She is my sister! An amazing woman.

DAD Jun 17, 2006 7:54 am
Mood: nostalgic, 243 Views
My dad is late 80 something, still kicking strong, the life of the party red head.

That's how I will always remember my dad - the life of the party. He's the one that had everyone's attention, telling jokes, playing practical jokes, laughing. My dad the big little boy.

I don't remember much about my dad as a small child. He must have been working. I remember mom telling me about him more than him being there himself but I do remember this....

He is a kind and patient man. I remember when he taught me how to drive. I worked for him that summer and he let me drive the car. My knees were shaking. He was so patient with me as we drove on the freeway each morning.

He is a deeply religious man. He loves god and went to synagogue each and every week and became president and leader there.

Where ever he goes, whatever he does, he rises to leadership. People want him to take charge and give them direction. He is doing that now again in his retirement home. He commands attention.

He knows committment. He loves his family, each & every one of them and there were alot of them! I remember as a child spending weekends visiting family near and far. He always took good care of his children providing for all our wants & needs.

He is a fun dad always teasing, laughing, joking around. I remember one time his joking around backfired on him. During one Passover Seder he picked up a hardboiled egg and cracked it over my aunts (his sisters) head. It turned out to be the only egg in the bowl that did not get boiled. My poor aunt! Everyone laughed. My aunt did not!

He is very smart. Here he is in his 80's not only using a computer every day, chatting and emailing away, but teaching other seniors to do it too!

I can still go to dad for advice when I need some, particularly about business. He always asks good questions though when we are on chat he types pretty slow. (or is it his internet speed?)

Most of all dad knows how to love his kids & let us love him. That is the best gift.

When what I want is more important than what I have, I will have what I want.

I am working to remember this every moment so that I can make each moment fulfilling. This works for the big stuff in life as well as the little moments. I just need to keep in mind.

When what you want is more important than what you have, you will have what you want.

I earned points at work! They gave me a catalog and I chose a Glider and a Treadmill. The glider came today and Aaron, my teenage neighnor, came over and helped me put it together. I can now sit on my porch with my 2 doggies, read the paper, sip coffee and stare into space! I love it!

Went to cut the lawn this morning and got so dizzy that I had to sit down on the grass. Thought I was going to pass out. My neighbors came over and finished cutting the lawn for me. Since I lost weight, I don't think I need the blood pressure meds anymore. I think my blood pressure is way too low. I'll have to check it in a few minutes. 7 pounds down! It's feeling good.

I love Saturdays. I love to putter around the house letting my nose and thoughts lead me to one thing then the next. Then just sitting and doing nothing when I want. Wish everyday could be a weekend!!
