Celebrating 90th Birthdays Aug 26, 2008 9:44 pm

I'm in Michigan to help celebrate birthdays. Let's see...mom 90 years old 8/25, dad 90 years old 8/5, daughter 40 years old 8/26, sister in law 53 years old 8/26. This has been a week long and fun birthday party!!

A couple of nights ago, my sister, brother, my daughter and all their families surprised my parents by showing up at their senior home to have dinner with them in the main dining room. There were 14 of us singing Happy Birthday and putting the frosting on our noses! Everyone was giggling, laughing and having a good time. I think we gave my parents bragging rights for the next 5 years! We told them if they are still around when they are 95 we will surprise them again for dinner.

On Sunday we invited all the relatives and their friends to an open house at my brothers. There were 70 people who stopped in to wish them a Happy Birthday. We had 4 generations here at the same time and got some great family pictures. Mom and dad were just beaming. My mom said that she was so tired on Sunday night but it was a good happy tired. She doesn't smile easily but she has been since Sunday.

Mom doesn't get around very easily so I went clothes shopping for her today and made a hit with some new clothes for her birthday.

They are doing so amazingly well for a pair of 90 year olds. I have to be so thankful for some good genes! At least I hope I got them!

And after all this, I just can't believe I have a 40 year old daughter!

This has been a good trip and after a week here, I am ready to get back home to Oregon!
