Republican Celeste Maloy won the special election Tuesday night to succeed her recently retired boss Rep. Chris Stewart as Utah voters filled the last vacant seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday.
“Thank you Utah!!” Maloy tweeted on X shortly after the Associated Press projected she had beaten Democratic state Sen. Kathleen Riebe.
The race pitted Maloy, an unabashed supporter of former President Donald Trump, against Riebe, the Utah state Senate’s No. 2 Democrat and a self-described moderate who had vowed to be more fiscally conservative than the liberal wing of her party.
Maloy served as Stewart’s chief legal counsel and now succeeds him in Utah’s second House district after he retired in September to spend more time with his wife, who is suffering from illness.
“I know Congress is a bit of a mess right now, and I feel like I can go and be helpful, and be a good solid member who is even keeled and low drama,” Maloy said after winning, according to AP.
Accolades poured in from across the political landscape.
“Congratulations to @CelesteMaloyUT on a hard-fought and well-deserved victory tonight in Utah's Second District! @HouseGOP is lucky to have a fighter like you in Washington, working tirelessly to secure a future that our can be proud of,” Rep. Burgess Owens, R-Utah, wrote on X.

The impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden is gaining momentum as more evidence comes out to back allegations that the president himself financially benefited from the overseas business dealings of his , Hunter.
While Republicans will find it very difficult to get the needed supermajority to impeach Biden, the mounting evidence and media coverage would be another obstacle for Biden to overcome as he campaigns for reelection.
The House Oversight Committee, led by Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., has filed a flurry of subpoenas in the investigation of Biden family members and associates this month, starting with Hunter Biden, the president’s , James Biden, the president’s brother, and their business associate Bob Walker.
Comer then sent subpoenas for Hunter Biden’s business associates, Mervyn Yan and Eric Schwerin, as well as his gallerist, George Bergès, and art patron, Elizabeth Naftali.
As The Center Square previously reported, Hunter Biden’s art business has come under scrutiny as critics argue his expensive works were used to hide and funnel funds.
Comer has also sent a subpoena to former White House Counsel Dana Remus, raising concerns about Biden’s handling and retention of classified documents. Federal law enforcement found classified documents in Biden’s garage and his office at the Penn Biden Center in Washington, D.C. from his time as Vice President.
Notably, former President Donald Trump faces criminal charges for the same offense. Biden has not yet been charged.
In the Remus subpoena, Comer is planning a deposition to find out more about Biden’s handling of classified documents and if there is any connection to those documents and the countries involved in his family’s overseas business dealings.
Notably, reporting has suggested some of the classified documents may have been related to Ukraine, a country that allegedly funneled millions of dollars to the Biden family.

Biden stunned reporters when he claimed Hamas terrorists slaughtered 1,400 Jews in Israel last month because of a railroad he proposed at G20.
“Well I believe one of the reasons Hamas struck when they did because they knew that I was working very closely with the Saudis and others in the region to bring peace to the region by having recognition of Israel and Israel’s right to exist,” Biden said.
“You may recall when we did the G20…I was able to get a resolution…a statement passed through there saying we’re gonna build a railroad from Riyadh all the way through the Middle East, into Saudi Arabia, Israel, etc., and all the way up to Europe,” Biden said. “Not the railroad but the underground pipeline and then the railroad.”

President Joe Biden has a lower average approval rating than each of the last three presidents at similar points in their administrations, according to Real Clear Politics (RCP) polling data.
As of November 22, Biden’s average approval rating on the polling aggregation website registered at 40.6 percent. Conversely, an average of 55.5 percent of respondents in national polls that are counted toward the website’s running average disapprove of Biden’s performance as president. He owns a net -14.9 rating.

over my time on earth i have encounter some noxious odors in the various stores which i frequent.
today asi was looking for items on my list. i had misfortune of walking thru a cloud of a green fog or surly been from some one that had a deceaseed iten in their evaction exit. to say it stunk would be like comparing a pebble to the empire state building.
there were 2 ladies in same aisle, neither of which look of the type to pass such toxic gas.
as i wiped my eyes to clear the tears my breathing came back and i held onto the buggy for stabilty. i forgot what i was seeking and pretty much dont remember much after wards till i got in my auto.
i did check items andf none had any foreign subsitance on the bag or items. i can only hope that the oder didnt permeat thru the glass or containers. For the meat i will use rubber gloves to put in freezer bags.
oh yes i still cant breathe correctly out of my left nostril

A mainline Israeli news station is reporting that the bodies of 40 b**ies have been found in the town of Kfar Aza following the invasion by Hamas militants on Saturday.
REPORTER: David, it's hard to even explain exactly, just the mass casualties that happened right here. In fact, the Israeli military says they still don't have a clear number, but I'm talking to some of the soldiers, and they say what they've witnessed as they've been walking through these different houses, these different communities. Ba**es, their h*ads cut off, that's what they said. Gunned down, families completely g**ned down in their beds. You can see some of these soldiers right now comforting each other.
The reporter goes on to describe the house-to-house fighting that is still ongoing, with the bodies of those m*rdered being found every hour. Booby traps are also set in the area, worsening the recovery efforts for those that were massacred.
The kibbutz in question is positioned near the Southern border with the Gaza Strip and was one of the places hit by Hamas. Obviously, the horror that took place is difficult to process.
