How Is Your GI System ?

After several yrs of multiple symptoms , multiple medications & a major test that required me to fast for 3 days, my doc couldn’t pin-point what was wrong with me. He finally suggested a food sensitivity/allergy test .
The test results showed I was sensitive ( not allergic) to 21 kinds of common food. My doc said, “Stop eating those and come back in 2 months.”
It’s been way over 2 months and Im far from ready to be interogated by my doc…....…….I’m already off from many foods, but still trying very hard to cut off products made from a cow, including cheese ( I actually feel ok after the help of digestive enzyme capsuls) ...……… There’s only 1 more out of the 21 that I find the most difficult to cut off--—wheat. .....……This means I need to avoid everything from the bakery too….. I have to go to rare & special stores to buy flour that contains no wheat and pay about 3 times as much….What’s more difficult is that I have to make my own bread, cakes….pasta…etc.
After 3-4 months of daily self-testing & struggling with foods, I think the biggest problem is I suspect the one thousand dollar test was not accurate------ my stomach feels fine, even wihtout capsuls, with foods that contain wheat.
I will be happy to get into more on this subject with you.

In Japan ? Why not in the U.S. ?
I undersatnd we wouldn’t want to drive this on the freeway side by side with a monster truck. Wouldn’t it be ideal to drive it to the market in a crowed street ? easier to park.

Today I ran into an old AARP issue (Jul ’07). On page 30, there is an advice on “Home Fix-Ups “. It reads “Contractors typically ask for a down payment before work begins…. But for a job of a day or two, don’t pay until all materials are delivered to your home.”
Does this sound right to you ?

I’ve read more than once that patients should ask one’s own doctor’s credentials & experiences before a serious decision to be made. Would you feel comfortable to ask your own doc those questions ?

How To Minimize Jealousy In A Love Relationship ?

My suggestion is “get rid of the misconception of ‘one and only’ ”----self-discipline on the ego.
The scenario is you & your partner are both single. One day your partner has another partner. Without knowing they are having sex or not ( let’s not be concerned about it here), you just feel being attacked by your own emotions of jealousy….. Ending the relationship is not a solution for now.
Let’s focus on “How to help yourself to minimize jealousy “ and NOT to get off topic by coming up with your strategy on how to fight your partner or to condemn infidelity etc.
If you agree with my suggestion of “get rid of…”, welcome to elaborate further. If you don’t agree, welcome to tell us your reasons why you don’t think my suggestion would help minimize jealousy.

Does Anybody Practice “The Here and Now “ ?

I finished the book “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle who also is the author of a best seller “The Power of Now”. The 2 books basically carry the same message : Live right here right now.
Only 2 sentences can sum up those 2 books: All mental patients have one thing in common. They usually live either in the past, the future, in their fantacies, imagination ot assumptions or everywhere except here---of course we are talking about extreme cases. Everybody's mind is "elsewhere" to a certain point now and then.
Now, let's return to the present. Are you here to enjoy the very action of blogging right here and right now ? or do you have your mind focused on looking for a “ special one” that you don’t even know where or when s/he might pop up ?

I Left My Heart In San Francisco ( 2 )

I lived on the 12th Ave and Geary for about 10 yrs. It was only a few blocks from Golden Gate park so I used to walk through the park to “Sunset” at least once a week for lunch. This park occupied a huge space in the city map. I was once got lost in an area where there were too many trees. And a pair of tourists picked me up to drive me out to the street. I felt ashamed and asked them if they needed my help to drive to where they were going.
In April or May every year cherry blosoms captivate people’s attention. As a local resident, I was more than willing to pay for a ticket every year to go into the Japanese tea garden just to look at those pale pink flowers that were all over the entire garden. Intoxicating and ethereal. You would be speechless. Just the pale pink color alone has the power to make your 5 senses numb. I believe many people would be happy to be burried under one of those flower trees. I would.
And there is the Rose Garden. Pure roses. When they bloom people would bring lunch to sit on the benches to watch. One day I was walking by, a man came up with a dreamy look of an old-fashioned British gentleman and asked me with a peculiar tone of voice, “ Where are the roses ?” I said, “ you are too early, come back in about a month.” He must been a poet.

I Left My Heart In San Francisco (1)

I “fell” in love with San Francisco during my first visit in 1979 as a tourist and I vowed to return. I did, in 1983. And lived there untill 2001 before I moved to where im now--Hawaii.
I first landed in an unassuming hotel on Powell street in the heart of San Francisco. When the sun came up the 2nd day iwas ready to go roaming. I asked the front desk for directions. He walked with me to the entrance facing the street, “ From this point to the right is ‘the bad area’. And to the left is ‘the good area’.” ------I can never forget those words up to today. It felt like being in a movie at that moment.
So I walked toward the direction of “the good area”. It turned out to be the direction to Chinatown only a some blocks away.
Mesmerized by the charming little cable car, I literally just stood there on the street and watched people hop up and down to and from the seats. The cable car has no walls or doors. I don’t remember if there were seat belts .

Hawaii (1) ------It Doesn’t Feel Like Winter

People are swimming as usual in December. I bet Santa was perspiring like a steamer in his heavy outfit. People around him were wearing shorts and sandles. Children were topless. Surrounded by lots of fake snow-----They looked funny together.
The temperatures today are 70-82. 70 could be near the lowest here. Many public places such as the bus are still air-conditioned. Temperatures are high all year long but not humid. It’s about the same in the summer. You don’t really perspire like a steamer unless you are in the sun. it feels cool as soon as you get under the tree or indoor. There are no mosquitoes in high-rises.

Writing Can Be Therapeutic And More

There was an article in a medical insurance publication here in Honolulu that encouraged patients to write journals for the goodness of their health….. I myself, twice, literally saved my own life by writing---not as a patient but as an apt renter.
It was the 24/7 traffic noise that almost killed me. My lease was 1 yr. And I was dying already the 2nd week after I moved in. I had to purchase a heavy-duty ear muffs. Can you imagin the pain from wearing that to sleep ?
So, I wrote a long letter to the owner. I had a sense that merely opening my mouth to complain was not going to do me any good but risking myself to be on his blacklist…. So I wrote, beginning from the description of how it felt when the noise was getting into my centural nervous system….to the comparison with a library nearby… and to the details on how I was losing my balance.
Two times in 4 yrs. The first owner said “ I received the long letter from you.” And he let me go. The 2nd owner sent smbody to say OK the 2nd day after he received the long letter from me.
