*~* Harvest Time *~*

Beginning of October is harvest time, and out in the countryside people welcome visitors at the entrance of a village or in their market place with figures made of straw bales. They are supposed to be symbols of a farmer and his wife. This photo was taken when I was last in the rolling hills where my home is in Germany, 2019.

The plums in my garden should be picked now to bake "Zwetschgenkuchen" and make plum puree/jam. That kind of plums is not known over here. They are sweet and delicious.

We do the big round bales here too... just not thought of decorating them!

We have lots of the round bales here in Canada. Now they cover them with some kind of plastic so they don't spoil when the winters arrive with either rain or snow.
