Same old, same old

Just watched an interview with an former CIA officer was in VN in 1975. He got out shortly before the NVA rolled into Saigon.

The NVA took the whole country in six weeks.

The officer attributes the collapse to the corruption in the government and the military. He kept reporting what he saw to the Saigon chief of station, Tom Polgar, but it never got past his desk because nobody wanted to hear that. If the true state of affairs had reached congress the VN would been cut off, and Kissinger didn't want that.

Sounds very much like what happened in Afghanistan when the Taliban took over.

The US should pick better allies.

They write in their own special code..no one, but them, can understand..
The have a different slant on life.. you can tell by their eyes.
The want to rule the world with Ying, Yang and Yen.
The threaten US with Panda-monium,and Panda-emics.

The US doesn't spend as much on foreign aid as most Americans think.
For one thing, it's often tied to buying US products.

Chiang Kai Chex's

Today China will own your mortgage..
Tomorrow..China will own your house

They will force you to become a Chinese hacker,
because you don't know how to use Chop Sticks.

They will force you to play Chinese Checkers
And Pray to Buddha

They will send you a concubine
To work your fields
Provide your food
Bathe you
Take care of all your needs
And experiment with you sexually.

On second thought...

BTW cayman, WW2 War Heros know full well what it takes to win wars. By and large they advised their 'Vietnam War age' kids not to go to a war that the US showed little interest in winning, and smacked of US Imperialism. Did you ever ask yourself what France was doing in Vietnam?

"they" were a minority.

Apparently a majority approved of the invasion of Iraq in 2003. When we had a chance to get out in 2004 a majority voted to stay the course. We paid a high price and got what ...

Now I'm guessing a majority would say Iraq was a mistake .... Vietnam too.

I don,t intend to argue with you Dusty. I joined the AF in 1967 because I knew I had the skills to get these young men home. It was not political. I was recalled during Desert Storm and left willingly for the same reason. I respect your opinion and agree that it was a mistake but, blame it on Washington , not those that served. If it is appropriate, thanks for your service .
