SFF Spammers?

The purpose of this website is stated as “Dating for people with experience”. SFF services include “dating services” as defined by California statute (“Dating Services”). The SFF mission statement: “The purpose of the Senior FriendFinder site is to make it as easy as possible for you to meet people, using the power of the internet. At Senior FriendFinder, you'll find a community of people using the site as a tool to make connections and find partners for dating, romance, and a variety of encounters. To find your match, we offer several powerful features, that allow you to narrow your search so you can find exactly the kind of person you, are looking for.”

The Terms of Use (TOU) further describes in detail the various rules and etiquette to be followed when using this website. The TOU can be viewed below, at the very bottom of this webpage. Additional guidelines can be found in the help section under “What are the Senior FriendFinder Blog Guidelines”.

SFF members (paid and unpaid) have accepted the TOU as part of the join process. Spammers are specifically prohibited from using this site and its various forums and messaging systems.

Are you a social blog spammer?

Spam refers to the use of electronic messaging systems to send out unrequested or unwanted messages and blog posts in excess and in violation of the TOU. Attempts to manipulate member opinion or behavior through a consistent bombardment of hate and/or false representations run counter to the stated purpose of SFF. Such messages are frequently offensive to regular site members or depreciate the value of the website. SFF is not a political forum, but that is not to say that that topic is off limits. However, the present volumes of such are outrageous at best.

Is your blogging agenda consistent with the stated purpose and TOU of SFF? Do you post repeatedly about the same off-purpose topic? Do your posts regularly stir up animosity and/or member bashing? Are you ignored by most members? Are you involved in cyberbullying? Do you frequently find yourself blocked? Well you might be a social blog spammer!

Has spam gotten out of control on SFF?

As a relatively new member to SFF, I have seen a large number of posts that are unrelated to the purpose of this site and I believe many of these posts can be considered in violation of the site’s TOU. I belong to other dating websites and can say that none of them have this volume of off-purpose and huffy posts. Plus I’ve witnessed the cyberbullying that goes on here first hand. No member deserves to be intimidated, or treated disrespectfully simply because she/he holds a different opinion than others.

Facebook and other social media are beginning to crack down on spam posts, including false and misleading “fake” news. On Feb 7th, Twitter announced their new policy: “Twitter prohibits the promotion of hate content, sensitive topics, and violence globally” read more on their website. .The social media giants have put spammers on notice that their accounts will be suspended or terminated if they are not in compliance with their respective TOU’s. I believe SFF should join this accelerating social media trend and do the same to shield its members from the dogma of hate.

Is it time to start reporting the TOU violations?

Are you one of the members who would like to see a reduction in spam? A return to respectful treatment and thoughtfulness for all members? Members will need to make their own decisions about what is spam and reporting the spammers. Perhaps it is the only way to get SFF back on track as a valued dating website.

Should you decide to join me in reporting the spammers, you can report suspected TOU violations via the SFF abuse team form. Simply go to the help center and do a search for abuse team, then click the link to fill out and submit the form. Or use the following shortened URL: https://tinyurl.com/ht6hxa8

My post will no doubt infuriate those that use SFF for their own personal causes, their own “agendas”. A scattering regularly does so indifferently, and without respectful consideration for the emotional wellbeing of members who have come to SFF looking for love and friendship in their later years. This I feel is a form of member abuse and a breach of the TOU.

The parent company FFN (formerly Various Inc.) is operating under a bankruptcy reorganization plan and is trying to return to profitability. The reality that SFF is having financial issues can be improved upon I think, if SFF were to refocus on its original purpose. This could attract new members who would be more willing to pay for dating services, thus helping to improve SFF cash flows, while putting “dating” back at the top of services offered here.

As it stands, newbie’s like me are reluctant to pay for an SFF membership. Some just pack up and leave when they see the large number of caustic and disagreeable posts. I’m sure some here would wish this ‘new kid on the block’ would pack up and leave too lol! But I’d rather stir the pot a little and offer a challenge for change before moving on. Besides, my real purpose of coming to SFF is not to write touchy forum posts in an attempt to rally regular members against spammer members… it’s to find a nice local woman for an LTR!

As you see, your blog brought out at least two sides to many discussions here.
I echo the sentiment that the chat rooms are a great place to get to know folks. That is where I met my husband, back in 2004. Off the top of my head, I can only think of one couple who got together through the blogs.
Blog topics are the choice of the person writing the blog.

Oh, and there definitely are SFF spammers. I believe all of us have gotten those emails from someone who just fell in love with us by our picture or our profile but they aren't on very often, so they want us to contact them at some other place. Strangely, a lot of them are gold members, and after being reported, most of them get removed.
I often wonder why anyone would spend the money for gold, just to get removed and lose it. Surely, they realize that seniors on a senior site are smart enough to not fall for that kind of scam?

There is nothing whatsoever stopping anyone from writing blogs about dating related topics (whatever that might be), and not reading blogs about topics that they find boring or are not dating related.

You may have already gotten some spammers contacting you, but they don't give up..... even sending them to us married folks. Here is an example of one I just received and reported.......... SFF will automatically change the address when it posts, so I'll leave that part out. This is a gold member who will lose the money as soon as he/she/it is removed.
