When I look at you. When I look at you. This humble Earth which sustains me, this reasonable flat, this solid rounding, this haven, which has my feet to a grinding wheel’s tread, keep’s control of all mind’s faculties, and to a fix of moral conscience. But when I look at you and love you, then I lose my stand on earth’s surface. I am then lost of all my good nature, that I lose my grip of gravity’s energy, and torn from the magnetic force of harmony, to be cast out into a space of time and place. When I look at you I know emotion’s move, the drifting of an eternity, an illusion of passion, that I drop down to countless rhythm’s of music, which is disjointed and raucous. Then up to a choral’s sweetening of angels, so I know the power of a high heaven, and the brimstone of fire’s hell. Your look, it makes both Sinner and Saint, equal proportions of both, a moral efficiency, and feelings of such loose morality, that each, to account, plays a stage of high drama. As a Saint, I make you saintly in terms of love, which can only heighten you to a light of adoration, and preserves the natural spirit of womanhood. But… When the devil is within, the Sinner, then I am to the devil born and all hell breaks loose. And such passion brings out such lust, which carries us down to the bowels of Hades, where even shadows fear to cast themselves. And where we die in a petite morte, the writhing of little death, ridden on wild horses, and the Sinner become the devil incarnate, until heaven calls and we are to a drift, upwards and soft to it all, to a calming peace, to a soft composure until I look at you once again. |
