If anyone is in the Oakland/San Francisco area it is well worth a visit to The Rock.

I lived in Oakland when this happened and try to visit Alcatraz when I am out there.

Hopefully I will be able to show it to Alfie. He has never been further west than southern Illinois, across the river from Vincennes when he came to visit me in Indiana.

I watched Jon Benet Ramseys brother being interviewed recently on TV. He had a weird expression on his face, a sort of a never ending smile. That case hasnt been solved. A sad case, child exploitment I would call it. Anyone could have been guilty. I read that her Mother died from cancer.

I don't know if it is the romantic in me, or the detective mystery buff, but I kind of believe they made it. There were no physical remains ever found and anyone smart enough to pull off the escape would be smart enough to keep his mouth shut about it.
As for being a swimmer, people can do a lot of unheard of things when they are fighting for their lives, like those men in the water would have been.

BTW, if you like police drama, read about the "hard luck" killer, Billy Cook. He slaughtered my grandfather's brother and his family, including their dog. Quite a manhunt went on for him, but he was finally caught.
