Interesting read. I guess I am one of the lucky ones, no major surgery yet. Here is hoping your recovery goes well and you are soon getting the leg over!!

The ortho doc told me both of my knees are worn out and need replaced. That was several years ago, and instead I opted for the shots of Hylagan in each one. The first series was 5 shots, a week apart, but later it was improved I guess, because it was only a series of 3 shots. It can be done every 6 months, but the improvement lasted over a year each time for me. I've not had it done for a few years now, but I still take some supplements that seem to be helping.
I say "seem to be" because I have grown accustomed to my level of movement and pain, so not sure of the benefits of the supplements anymore and I don't want to stop them, just to find out.
Your story of how improved the surgical techniques have become is encouraging. I hope your healing completes quickly.

Most interesting, Ranger. Wow we can now refer to you as the 'Bionic man' (lol)? My late hubby had both hips done, 3 months apart and how I remember the healing part & the physio (therapist came to our home twice a week). He was to do the daily exercises himself.
