I wonder what the "old times" will be when our young generation is our age.

We have wonderful memories!

My daughter just said that her step son made a comment about the "old days" referring to the 80s and 90s....... he was born in 2002. Certainly points out which end of the cycle of life we are on, doesn't it? And I don't even really consider us "old" yet! There are many still ahead of us.

I was in 4-H most of my youth. As you can imagine the "projects" kept me busy and out of things. Since we had the farm I was restricted to toe girlie things becasue those were skills I was missing - according to my mother. All part of her plan to make me a good homemaker. Then I went to college I don't know if it was just me being me or the times changed but I never was a very good homemaker. I always did the bare minimum of housekeeping etc. becasue there was this thing called a job that demanded attention and energy.

I do use my sewing skills in a lot of my projects. Cooking? I used to like to but now it's just fix something that meets the basic food groups and is easy to prepare. room design? Still do that one but my designs didn't then and don't now meet the "trendy".

    Quoting  :

Most of my "grandparent" memories were of my mother's parents. Grandpa worked until he died....... what they thought was a heart attack only slowed him down for a couple weeks. It got to him a few months later, but it was lung cancer that had wound itself around the nerves and blood vessels of his heart. (My baby brother died of the same thing, at the age of 39}
My grandma was a homemaker......... she cooked, baked, gardened, canned, froze food, sewed, and made their budget STRETCHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I often wish I were more like her and the role she played in my life, but times are totally different and so am I. sigh.

Before he died, my little brother's lung cancer had also metastasized to his bones, so I know of the painful agony it causes. My brother (and my grandpa) were both smokers.
I used to say that when I retired, I wanted to be a cookie baking gramma........ now, grandkids want a savvy granny that knows what Pokémon go is all about!
