The biggest hiatus the US media have taken in this century is the absence of critical thinking when Bush II and his neo-con acolytes sold Saddam as an imminent threat to anyone outside the middle east.

The 'evidence' presented was laughable,.

The media, along with congress including Ms. Clinton, fell in line.

As the last few years have shown, the media has become more and more biased. I'm surprised by the individual journalists, but I guess if they want to keep a job, they must conform to the platform of their company...... or are they really that biased themselves.
It seems that "news" agencies no longer report the news, they try to shape it.

To illustrate the point.....
Here are the CNN headlines on my home page right now.

Clinton looks past Trump to White House plans
Hillary Clinton is steadily moving her focus beyond Donald Trump, increasingly planning for what she

Obama slams Republican firebrand for hypocrisy
President Barack Obama directed harsh criticism at Rep. Darrell Issa at a fundraiser Sunday in La Jolla

Sally Kohn: A letter to my daughter regarding Trump
I am so sorry that the world I've brought you into is one in which not only is Donald Trump possible

Here are the headlines from Fox.........

MANHUNT FOR KILLER Okla. police seek man in double slay, cop shooting

ASTOUNDING ABILITY Teen wakes up from coma speaking fluent Spanish
28 min ago
'DISGRACEFUL' Lawmakers blast Pentagon for taking back bonuses

As is evident, one of them is intent on attacking one of the political candidates at every possible opportunity, and promoting the other one. That is not news reporting, that is news shaping. Do they think by this kind of reporting, Trump supporters will think the election is "over" and just not go out and vote?

So only Fox reports the truth? If Trump was rating high in the polls then it would be reliable information with NO media bias. Turn the channel.

No Maggie, it is not. On my homepage, I simply have CNN newsfeed and Fox newsfeed..... along with Yahoo newsfeed, and CNN Health.
They are the ones that decide what they find important to make their headlines.

Exactly. How does one decide which news channels or articles are truthful? You believe ALL but those with a conservative slant are dishonest? Out of the main stream media you believe that Fox is really balanced?

The Brits most certainly did not.
That's why there was an inquiry into why Blair went along for the ride.

Whether Bush and the neo-cons lied or not depends on whether you consider selecting only the evidence, no matter how questionable, that supports your view as lying.

I say it does qualify, just the Gulf of Tonkin resolution was based on lies.

A lot of countries, including my own, went along with the NATO invasion of Afghanistan.

I assume the reason for this was the notion that the US had been attacked by Afghanistan, a ridiculous notion.

Bush and co. must have put a lot of pressure on NATO members to get them to go along with this idea.

Most of them had the good sense to put their troops in he northern part of the country where there was far less chance of them being shot at - Holland and Denmark come to mind.

Canada, Australia, and the UK put their soldiers in he south where they got killed.
In Canada I think we as a nation have finally realized that sending our troops there had been a bad idea.
