The truth of love.

The truth of love.

Might a man, in his life, have two loves in share
Have delight in Rubens, yet be sweet on Lowry
Stick-thin black lines, yet love a fullness of care
To fascinate over, the stark and sweetest flowery

All poets have an abundance of emotion’s play
To see a beauty in all, to know sensual delights
Do not the stars give such psychological sway
That love is for warm days and a cool of nights

I confess, I follow what a poor poet heart feels
And I love within imagination’s finest groove
And, if this be the rut, which tracks my wheels
Allow me the privilege of my heart’s move

Thought’s run may have two loves in share
But truth is, one love is all one heart can bear
