Life's Cup.

LIFE’S CUP.

What clock’s turn is to life’s associate
That it ticks merry to future’s chiming
Is it youth’s appetite that has no wait
That gorges ahead to hunger’s timing

And we, who live by natural sundial
By a sun’s shine and accepting belief
We, the happier can outstay the while
And well aware of the happiness thief

A thief of time is a worry’s reaper
Anticipating time’s hurrying by
But life is dear and to us not cheaper
We carry on without worrying sigh

Do we not drink from life’s glorious cup
And drink to happiness when time is up
