You just connected the dots on another thing that grates against my free spirit soul. Following the unwritten dress code tells us that they would not be as different as they claim they would be. If we were to take any of their rhetoric seriously superhero costumes might be more appropriate.

Reminds me of how I used to make a joke of the "dress code" for court. - DA blue, private attorney grey, public defender tacky khaki, but I am the social worker and I can wear purple plaid if I want."

These days I would probably add homeless man / bag lady defendant.
