A wonderful blog that puts how I feel about severance in words.

You made me feel so fortunate. My feelings and reactions have always been this way. You made me realize that I have been very fortunate as I have been around and sometimes very close to Christians who were like Mrsjoe and Dan when it came to respecting our differences and recognizing our similarities. .

I grew up in a Christian home but the term "reverence" or to "revere" something wasn't confined to matters of faith. (Altho it might often be used in that context, along with others.)

Your situation reminds me of the impression I had growing up, that to go to Heaven I had to "be good", go to church and Sunday school every week, and not use bad words. I was also supposed to look, sound, and act "like a "Christian". (Which meant acting "churchy" and putting on an act.) My parents meant well, but I was left with a gross distortion of things.

I kept my faith, but only after I realized I'd grown up with all the wrong impressions, and realized Christianity (whether one believes in it or not) is much more than just putting on an act to prove to folks you're "socially acceptable" to their group.

I liked this blog entry and I can empathize.

May whatever is good in the universe bless you,

Gavin
