INCREASING CHANCE OF FLARES
The sunspot number is rising, and so is the chance of flares. NOAA forecasters have boosted the odds of an M-class solar flare today to 50%. The explosion if it occurs, could come from any of the circled regions.

Each of these active regions has an unstable beta-gamma magnetic field poised to erupt. M-flares can produce minor to moderate HF radio blackouts. Earth-directed CMEs could be in the offing as well.
