IT'S A SCARY WORLD I just heard about a woman kidnapped from her great grandson: "An 86-year-old woman who was kidnapped and driven for hundreds of miles in her own trunk is speaking out about the incident. Hazel Abel is back home safe in Kennewick, Washington, after police said her own great-grandson and two friends kidnapped her and drove her all the way to the Portland area." Luckily for her she escaped and went into a store and got help. They had planned to kill her. He had told his friends she was "an easy mark", which is why they kidnapped her. I have no or grandkids and when I read things like this, I am relieved. What is this world coming to? Elaine Shuel |

Shuel there are a lot of sick people out there. Take for instance the case of the guy who strangles his mother and kills his two brothers with cross bows in Toronto last week. How sick is that. The father passed away last year so probably something to do with money.

Family has been killing family over jealousy, money, etc since the beginning of time.... Cain and Abel were the first example. Sadly, we are seeing an escalation of these things like never before and I believe this escalation is heralding events like we have never seen before but are foretold in the Bible. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Oh my goodness!!!! The 24 hour news cycle is to blame for most of the extraordinary focus on bizarre crimes . Of course, when broadcasters started getting big buck in advertising revenue, impartiality went out the window.

I definitely agree that it appears to be happening with more frequency but I often wonder if it really is or if it seems that way becasue communication is so easy now. We have the entire world in our living rooms, or at least we have the possibility of such. Unfortunately we are dependent on media services who choose what to present and they love to present violence, which is a problem in and of itself. An even worse side of the problem s that so many people want to hear more and more of this stuff. Elaine Shuel
