WHEN ALFIE MET ANN

I just read about an Instagram account called "The Way We Met". Couples write about how they got together. It reminded me about one of Alfie's posts about how he met Ann. I really enjoyed reading about how their relationship started. I'd love to hear stories about other members and how they met their significant others. Care to share?

In my case, I joined a phone site because I could tell a lot about a man by the sound of his voice. Given my job experience, it just made sense. I had dated some guys I shouldn't have and decided it was time to meet a nice guy. I have to admit that I did let men make the first move so if a guy contacted me and I liked him, it went from there. I liked my boyfriend from the moment we first talked. His warmth was felt on that first call. Before our first date, I knew that I would want us to be friends even if nothing developed. We ended up falling in love.

Thank you and the way we met was absolutely true!

Alfie was contacted by Reader's Digest to write another 100 word story. We have tried and tried to get our first meeting into 100 words but haven't been able to.

I think Ane Mac has a nice story about how she and Dan met. Obviously with them it was great from the start as they are still going strong and so happy together. I like hearing stories like that just like Ann & Alfie's.

Well Elaine, when I meet someone, if ever, I'll let you know. Probably happen at a horse auction, I hang out there almost every Wednesday night.

I did one of the things that are only suppose to happen in movies. I ran off with a truck driver and we lived a wonderful, happy life until death did us part.

I met my late husband over the radio. I was operating a CB base station from my home for forwarding messages, giving directions and contacting emergency services. This was before cell phones, GPS systems etc. For professional drivers CB was the best thing they had. We had an informal chain of home base systems up and down the Interstate manned by volunteers and hobbyists. I made friends with the drivers who had regular runs past my "20". I made some good friends and even dated a couple of people I met via radio.

There was this one kind, polite fellow that I talked to for about 6 months. One time he was going to be on a lay over in my area. When I heard from him it was late at night and I was in my sweats etc. so I agreed to meet him at a local restaurant in the AM. I was around 40 at the time and assumed from our conversations that we had had that he was older, maybe around 60.

I was completely caught off guard when he turned out to be a tall, dark, handsome man about my age! That was it. We met every time his route took him by (about 3 times a week) . A couple of months later I went on a run with him and that was that. We were together for the rest of his life.

Although I had had a couple of serious relationships and had been married for about 14 years and thought I had been in love before but all of that paled in comparison. I have had a couple of serious relationships since he passes and am currently in a peaceful, compatible companionship relationship but nothing like the knock your sox off thing I had with my husband.

It sounds beautiful, Spirit. I'm glad that you found your true love. I'm sorry he passed away but many people never find it at all. Cherish the wonderful memories you shared. Thanks very much for telling us all about it.

Yes they are but I enjoy hearing about other couples too. Anything you want to share Robyn?
