BRUCE JENNER CONFIRMS TRANSITION TO A WOMAN

I'm sorry about having a 4th post today. I'll probably take the weekend off (I hope). I just heard about Bruce Jenner becoming a woman. What do you think about that?

I believe that it must be difficult to live a lie. I can't say I understand how it feels to be trapped in the wrong body but I have empathy for those that do. I admire his bravery at coming out about it. The only thing that bothers me is did his wives (he's had 3) know? It sounds like Kris knew he liked dressing as a woman but wanting to be a woman is different.

I have to add that I'm glad his family is so supportive. It's easy to be there for the good times but more important to be there for the harder times.

He should have done it when he was younger, he was better looking then.

Good for Bruce Jenner to finally be able to be who he always was.

Unless we have 'walked' in the shoes of someone in this situation, we'll never be able to understand.

Hi Elaine: I read an interesting book about gender identity called Middlesex. Nothing to do with Bruce Jenner, but in hospital delivery rooms the doctors take a quick look at the newborn and must make a call whether the baby is male or female. A lot of times it's not easy to tell, so the parents raise the baby according to what s*x the doctor told them the baby is. Many times when the child is in its teens or twenties or even later some medical test or x-ray may disclose the delivery room doctor was wrong about the child's s*x.

It must be difficult to transition, but to have to go through the stages in the public eye must be a nightmare. So all the best to Bruce Jenner.

I agree he should have done it when younger. My reasoning is that he would have had a longer time to live as a woman, which is what he obviously always wanted. Thanks for your comment, Rae.

That was a very thought provoking comment, Lulu. Thanks very much for sharing it. I don't think that it's a matter of society accepting them as they are, so they wouldn't need such an operation. I think they feel like they are trapped in someone else's body. They feel like their insides don't match their outer appearance. I haven't met anyone who felt that way. I have had clients who dress like women and fantasize, but none felt like they should be another gender. It must be quite a struggle and I feel for them.

It's important to feel comfortable in your own skin and I feel for people who don't. Being in the public eye definitely brings an added pressure and I applaud Bruce Jenner for his courage. Thanks for your comment, bijou.

I find it interesting that you think that women and men should view the situation differently. Thanks for your unique comment, dakotasnake.

Elaine, I just saw part of an interview with Jenner where he says he is 'straight' and only has s*x with women. I still wish him well, but now tthe whole thing doesn't make much sense to me.. How can a transitioned male who is now female having s*x with other women be straight? Wouldn't the proper term be a 'lesb*an'?

According to what I have observed, he says any sexual organ change is further in the future...considering his age it probably is not a big thing any longer.

At least two of his wives were aware of his struggle and one of them even went so far as to seek out a therapist to help him with his conflict.

We all, each and every one of us, has a male and a female component of our makeup. A fair number of men and women have difficulty exposing and asserting that alternate component.

Men, at an early age, are taught to "man up and take it like a man". Women, on the other hand, are taught that they should always be pretty, frilly, and to not have anger issues. That has historically led to some really screwed up individuals.

I applaud Bruce for his courage and I think that he is helping those individuals with this type of conflict a great deal.
Hi Shirley and thanks for the response. I didn't see the whole interview and didn't know he hadn't transitioned yet. I applaud him for what he's doing too. Personally I think everyone has the capacity to be bis*xual depending on the situation, so maybe he will decide then what, if anything, to do about his s*x life. I heard he is 65?? Could that be true as he looks so young.

I thnk he should have stayed the way he was and just gone about his life.Everyone seems to be so mixed up regarding their gender etc.

I saw only parts of the interview but I heard that too. That is unusual. I would have thought "she" would want sex with men. I guess it means that in his heart he's a lesbian, as you said.

That means in his case, it wasn't that he wanted to be with another male, but that he just doesn't feel like he's a man. He said something about wanting a manicure that starts chipping due to it being on long. He wants to look and feel and experience what women do. Obviously, there are some things he won't get to have, if you know what I mean.

Thanks for your comment, Robyn. I think that unless we experience what Bruce and other transgenders do, we can't know how hard it must be to feel trapped in our bodies. There is a high suicide rate for transgenders and if it will make them want to live by doing this operation, who are we to judge? I applaud his courage.

Welcome to my blog, WickedFemale. I didn't hear about a lip challenge. Did he tell girls to have their lips enlarged?

That's ok, Bill. You don't have to care about his life and what he's up to. Thanks for your comment.
