BE HONEST, HAVE YOU OR DO YOU WATCH SOAP OPERAS (INCLUDING NIGHTTIME ONES LIKE DALLAS)?

When I was young, I remember a friend of me used to watch All My . I gave it a try, it was during the time of Tara and Phil and Chuck, and was hooked. 1964 - 1969 I watched what many consider the first nighttime soap opera, Peyton Place. That's when we got to see Mia Farrow and Ryan O'Neal and their continuing saga. Later on, I added a ton of soaps to my schedule. General Hospital (of course I saw the wedding of Luke and Laura, which Liz Taylor was a guest star on), Young and the Restless (where David Hasselhoff played Snapper Foster), Bold and the Beautiful (from day 1) and others. I loved Dynasty and Dallas (I watch the new version of Dallas) and more.

Do you watch any soap operas, daytime or nighttime ones? Nighttime ones are often referred to as continuing dramas, but in any real sense, they ARE soap operas.

For the record, the Daytime Emmys 2015 are on the POP Network this Sunday and I can't get it on my cable. I'm not very happy about that.

Hi Elaine: I love Y&R and have been watching it for decades. I saw Catherine Chancellor and Jill in person once at a mall in Toronto. There's really a lot of interesting plots lately. Makes me wonder if they got some new writers.

Seeing soap opera stars in person is great. I've seen several myself. I used to have a major crush on Drake Hogestyn from Days of our Lives. I later saw him live and that was a thrill. Thanks for your comment, bijou.

I only saw a touch of One Life To Live, when Judith Light was on. Yes it's true that some are hooked and some aren't. Thanks for your comment, Pat.

No, I've never gotten hooked on any soap operas..... just too busy.

I don't even like to watch shows that are continued the next week. I know that people PVR (Are those the right initials?..LOL ) but I don't even do that.

Once when my Father was in the hospital I was visiting him, when my older cousin came in. During the conversation she said to my Dad, "Wasn't that awful about Paul?" ....and they were discussing Paul's problems. I finally asked who Paul was. Here it was, an actor on some soap opera!!

LOLOLOLOL...........

It was probably Paul Williams on Y&R. I am one of those PVR people, Rocket. Thanks for your amusing comment. I enjoyed reading it.

Dallas was my favorite show. In fact we have the entire DVD collection as well as the DVDS on the new Dallas.
Who could forget "Who shot JR?" and Larry Hagman's excellence at playing the character JR? He was great. Thanks for your comment, crazyhorse.
