Hobbies - just for fun or did any lead to earning money?

Tell us about your hobbies. Sometimes a hobby can turn into a money earning activity. That's what happened with my erotica. I wrote them for fun and then found out there's a market for it. That led to it becoming my job. Did any of your hobbies become a way of earning extra money?

I have never had a hobby that I made money at. I spend a lot of time on the computer but I haven't made any money on doing that. Reading is another hobby but no money earned doing that one either. Up until now I haven't had a whole lot of time to pursue any hobbies. Once I get my home projects done maybe can delve into that one.

I turned my hobby of growing and showing Fuchsias into a small business. I couldn't have lived on the profits, but I made some extra spending money by selling cuttings of my show winners. I wish I could grow them down here in Georgia.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

That's great to hear. You took adversity and made something positive come out of it. Good for you!!! Thanks, Dan.

Hobbies are something you enjoy doing. You don't have to make money from it. Keep having fun at the computer and reading, Shartaun03 and thanks for answering.

They are pretty flowers, Alfie. Making extra money to supplement one's income is a good thing. It is too bad you can't continue doing that in Georgia.

It sounds like it's a form of entertainment that you sometimes make money doing. That's great, Pat. Thanks for your reply.

That's terrific, Bob, thanks for your comment. You get to play your music and at times, earn enough to go on a trip or buy yourself something extra. Great!!!

Hi Elaine: When I moved to B.C. the first time I saw the ocean I was amazed that the entire beach was covered with millions of small round shiny stones. I was thinking that some enterprising person might make some money with all these free stones at their disposal, so I made a bunch of different cute little ducks out of them just gluing two small stones together. Some ducks sat under tiny beach umbrellas, some ducks inside tiny sea shells, cutesy hand painted eyes and beak etc. I put a "Handcrafted in Victoria, B.C." sticker on the bottom and a souvenir shop agreed to buy some. Apparently the tourists loved them and they sold like hot cakes. In time my apartment was full of little rocks and little ducks.

Sure it counts, Bill. Your hobbies didn't earn you extra money but by saving you money, it led to increased funds.
