This is the only political post I'll likely ever write

I am not political at all. I've said that several times. I can't help noticing though that 2 themes keep being brought up, regarding politics. One is about Obama and his policies. The second is about Israel. I read Maisie's post and I too have wondered why Israel has been singled out. There are so many countries in the world and so much violence. It's one thing if there was an equal distribution of posts regarding most countries but why is Israel singled out? I would be saying the same if Greece/Italy or any other country was being constantly criticized. I would be thrilled to check out the blogs and not see anything related to Israel at all.

I won't accuse anyone of anti-semitism, though I have read some blog comments that to me certainly sounded like that's an underlining theme of the comment. Sometimes that assumption is incorrect so I don't like coming to conclusions unless there is enough fact to back them up.

I came on this site to meet a guy, originally. I have my boyfriend so I stay here to have fun. I wish the animosity between some members would stop. I had some issues myself and I think most are resolved. The only one that isn't is with the woman that banned me. That's her choice not mine. I would like to clear the misunderstanding but she doesn't. I just want peace and to have a good time. When I read about all the issues, I think to myself, how can there be world peace when SFF members can't get along. it's sad really.

PLEASE don't comment back with how Israel did this or did that. I am sure Maisie and others (I won't give a reply to political comments because I'm not qualified to do so) can tell you how other countries do the same or much worse. The issue is why pick on ANY one country.

I do apologize to those that thank me for putting on blogs that don't lead to arguments. This blog post is an exception for me. I hope to not put any like it again.

Thanks Liszt. I am not saying that members shouldn't put up any political posts, even though it's not my cup of tea. I just felt things were too slanted.

Very good question indeed. I have often wondered why that is so. A hell of a lot of the Irish media are very anti-Israeli as are many of our citizens. My husband and I find that hard to fathom, when you look at what they are faced with and our sympathies have always lain with Israel.

I think by far, the most political comments are between the Republicans and the Democrats in the United States. Then comes ISIS and then Israel.

To criticize the politics in Israel, I don't think is antisemitic. Just as criticizing the politics in the United States does not make a person anti-American.

I choose not to comment on the politics of other countries. We have enough issues of our own to worry about!

Interesting post...and you are right to be very wary of making judgments of anti-Semitism because they are almost universally and absurdly inappropriately leveled, especially on this site. It's better not to try and talk about something you know nothing about. Discipleship is another subject many people here do not grasp. Anyway, sorry you have no interest in politics...have a great life!
Thanks Leaf. I think I got turned off completely when everyone complained about a certain politician in power here in Ontario. I voted against him because of what I had heard and he won again. I realized that although people complain, they keep voting them in power.

Thanks Maura. I wasn't aware of that bias in Ireland. Learn something new every day.

Israel is a focus all over the world because it is continuing to foment war.......Because Israel is basically a welfare state of the US, being the recipient of more political, religious, military and financial support from the US than any other country. The Evangelical Right in America is especially supportive because their ancient prophesies specify that their savior will appear there (the one whose imminent arrival they have been waiting for now for thousands of years.........they are passionate(read manic) that they control the place that is prophesied as the place he will make his appearance. The mythology of the Jews being the favoured people of Jehovah and Israel being their rightful homeland also factors in.....

Many people in the world who don't subscribe to that myth being literal truth are losing their patience with the way Israel is treating the Palestinians who also occupy the land and were there when the Jewish people showed up to claim it......Basically doing what the Europeans did to the Native Americans.......and all the other Colonized peoples of the Earth.

Israel is an Appartheid state and those not blinded by their mythology and the brainwashing by the American media, see that and have been rising up in protest for some years........There has been much media attention in Europe and on the internet of the atrocities committed by the sophisticated Israeli military that contravene international law......and the US military aid supporting them.

The reason Netanyahu's visit is so controversial is that he is advocating bombing Iran by warning the US that Iran is building nuclear weapons and it is near completion......He has falsely made that warning several times before.....He also told the same lie about Iraq......and look how that went........

He's a war monger and wants even more support than the trillions he has already squeezed out of the US......many Americans are sick of the military bleeding the nation of money and their sons and fathers and brothers........they know they have been lied to......and they are pissed.
Lulu, thanks for responding.

I assume you missed what I wrote above: "PLEASE don't comment back with how Israel did this or did that."

Thanks for responding, MySeek2day but I don't feel qualified to respond to remarks about what Israel does or does not want. I believe they want peace, as most of us do. I have no interest in reading up on the topic and prefer to stick to non-political issues.

Elaine like you I don't get into the political garbo that goes on in these blogs. Most of it seems to pertain to the President of the USA and now Israel which is the hot spot. Also ISIS is mixed in there as well. I prefer to read your stuff as it provides enlightenment to our daily life. There is so much doom and gloom in the world as it is so why go on about it in here. I know there isn't anything that you and I will say will change it. We should all gather around in a circle and have a group hug. That is would be much more beneficial in my estimation.

Thanks Shartaun03. I think that everybody has their own form of entertainment and while politics isn't for us, there are certainly some members that do enjoy talking about it. I think the best is what Liszt said and what I have been doing for the most part. If a topic sounds political, I usually don't read it.

Israel is not the only nation lambasted.

Any number of us have criticised the US as well for its foreign policy which seems to consist of supporting friendly dictators, deposing them when they fall out of favor, and invading their nation.

The reason Israel is picked on is quite simple.

It wants to be considered a democratic Western society while practicing apartheid just like South Africa did.

Remember when we singled out South Africa?
