Do you enjoy going to the theatre?

I love going to the theatre. I remember my first time. I was in NYC and we went to see "I Love My Wife" starring the Smothers brothers. I totally enjoyed myself and it made me hungry for more. Later we added going to see Broadway shows every summer, on the way back from Atlantic City.

When I moved to Toronto from Montreal 20 years ago, it meant having great theatre close at hand.

Some of my favorite plays: Les Miserables, Aspects of Love, They're Playing Our Song and Wicked. We saw the first and last of that list twice each.

I have to say that some small theatres have the best plays. They might not be as well known but that doesn't matter. I tend to go to musicals though Mousetrap was excellent and there have been some other exceptions.

Do you like going to the theatre?

I love going to the theatre!!

Even if you see a play more than once, there are always things about it that are different.

The old standards are wonderful. The last play I saw was the musical, Kinky Boots.... great!!

I think when you see things twice, which is unusual for me, you pick up on thiings you missed the first time. I never saw Kinky Boots. Thanks for your recommendation and for commenting, Rocket.

Hi Elaine: When I lived in B.C. my ex and I were involved in a theatre company working behind the scenes on the play Dracula. My ex was in charge of creating special effects such as a fire right on the stage, making the blood, objects flying through the audience. I was doing the make-up and Gibson girl hairdos for the wigs, and taking cast photographs. The play was so scary that it ran for two years. The lead actor got into the role so much that he acted just like his Dracula character off stage too.

Other than working on Dracula, I've only been to the theatre a couple of times to see Equus and a couple of operas, but the tickets were soooo expensive. I saw the play Blood Brothers outdoors in High Park and really enjoyed that a lot.

Thanks Pat. Yes I definitely meant live theatre, as opposed to a movie. A strip club isn't exactly what I had in mind. I hope one day you go to a play and see if you enjoy it.

Thanks for saying that, boogie. I saw Same Time, Last Year in Lake George, NY when I was much younger. On the way to Atlantic City, we used to go to their dinner theatre. We had a wonderful time. That was a great play. I wonder if that theatre is still around.

Thanks Francesca. Oh yes, Blood Brothers was wonderful. I saw it with David and Shaun Cassidy and really loved it. I have the CD. I never saw Dracula or Equus, but it must have been fun for you and your ex to work in back of the stage. Was Equus good?

Seeing Les Miz counts, Bill. Music concerts and Bob Hope and any other form of entertainment is great, as long as you enjoyed yourself.

Going to the theatre is one of my favourite pastimes. Musicals are my preferred genre but I enjoy serious drama too. "The Jersey Boys" was the last show I saw but my all time favourite is "Mama Mia" and I have seen it three times, with different casts in different cities. lol.

:Yes, musicals make me feel like I'm seeing a play, more than dramas. That's my preference too. Thanks Maura. I saw both those plays but only once each. They were both good.

I saw Guys and Dolls at my local live theatre -- I live so close to NYC I should take a trip in to see a great live production
You definitely should, Diane, if you enjoyed seeing Guys and Dolls. I never saw that one. Live theatre is no comparison to seeing a movie and some local theatres (at least in Toronto) aren't that much more expensive. Big productions aren't cheap, but to me they are worth it. Thanks Diane.
