How rare is love at first sight?

There were a few comments on one of my blogs about love at first sight. I was wondering how rare it really is. It got me thinking about my boyfriend and I. The first time we communicated was by phone. He wasn't a . We talked about many things that first time, and I remember telling him things I never told any other guy until I got to know them better. Suddenly I realized, could it have been love at first call? Seriously.

I'd like to hear about your experiences and those you know. Did those who fell in love at first sight, last?

Lust at first sight is common I think, Dan. It's true love, where you know he/she is your soul mate upon first glance, I find fascinating.

I don't know Elaine, good question! I don't believe in it, it's never happened to me, so, does that make it rare?

I've found over the years that love grows on you. You put down the roots for it to grow by spending lots of quality time together, but one day it will just burst into flower and you will know that you are really in love and loving the experience..

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I think that true love at first sight is extremely rare.

Sometimes a person just grows on you...LOL...and all of a sudden 'BANG'!

That's probably what does happen in most cases, Rocket. I thought that's what happened to me. Now I'm not sure.

I think it's wonderful that you found, Joe. Meeting a guy and marrying him the next day, and it lasting decades, is a great example of love at first sight actually being true love. Thanks so much for sharing that.

Hi Elaine: I think falling in love by phone or internet is not that rare, but when the two people later meet in person for the first time the chemistry they felt might not be the same or might not be there at all.

I've fallen in love on first sight twice in my life, one of the men I married and the other one I lived with for seven years. The chemistry we had was not because of physical appearance, but whatever it was about it was dizzying. The weird part of the love at first sight thing is that both parties feel the same thing.

Twice Francesca, great!!! There could definitely be a feeling of love on the phone or over the internet, that changes when one meets in person. I met a guy on the internet years before I met my boyfriend. We chatted online for 6 hours (he had to leave to go to work) and I felt something immediately and so did he. The next day he sent me a virtual rose and said he never felt so much for someone so soon. Neither had I. We almost got together in person but it never happened.

I have to say that whenever his name popped up online, I got excited and butterflies. Honestly, I felt more for him than my first boyfriend. It was so unusual. We still chat to this day but he's married now and I love my boyfriend.

It most certainly can, Robyn. I'm not sure it always does or there wouldn't be divorces. Thanks for commenting on my blog.

Your comments always make me smile, Dianne. You're so sweet. Thank you.

We do seem to think alike about what appeals to us. I too can't resist a great sense of humor, a guy that can give as good as he gets. It sounds easy to find but really isn't.

Have a wonderful weekend!!!
