Pay Up, Canada!

Coming in near the bottom in expected defense spending, Canada is less than half way to meeting it's NATO commitment. They're not alone: most of the socialist-leaning European members aren't quite paying their fair share, either.

It's funny to listen and watch the smug, self-satisfied "world leaders" denigrate Donald while they're too cheap to sit at the same table. Sadly, it's not surprising.

Hmmmm - and their leaders' bad attitudes are reflected in SFF member posts from those countries.

I guess if I was a freeloading POS, I'd look for an excuse to look down on my betters, too.

Sax,,, you're talking about our PM.. he's just boy child who is playing the big cheese.. he has a lot to answer to, something he refuses to do to any questions from a Conservative & yet he talks about 'transparency'. You should see our House of Commons where most PMs attend Monday to Friday but he refuses to be there more than once a week to answer questions from he opposition. We haven't had a PM like him since his late father who was also very arrogant & passed it on to his son!! The apple doesn't fall from from the tree. Our entire country under his rule has gone to hell in a hand basket. We're so deep in debt that it will decades to balance the budget, something our children and grandchildren will be saddled with!!

Actually I was very surprised to see that Canada had not been paying their fair share for NATO.

I agree with Salsa. Not only do we not pay our fair share, the wages of the regular members is in the toilet. I know of members who have had to go to food banks to make ends meet. Retired members are receiving poor health care from veterans affairs.

I hope Trump doesnt pay a cent till all the others are up to date with their back pay.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

On second thoughts, I think he should get a billion or two behind in support and ask them, "How do you like it?"

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

In 2014, each member of NATO agreed to set a target of 2% of its GDP which would be spent on their own defense.

This is not money owing to NATO, but an obligation that Canada and five other countries have failed to fulfill.

Canada is only spending 1.02% of its gross domestic product on its defense at this time. Hopefully we will increase this as soon as possible.

Sorry Sax that you appear to not know our Canadian politics without reading an article on one aspect & commenting! The truth has absolutely nothing to do with my attitude. Just because you appear to be a Liberal doesn't mean you need to attack your neighbours to the north!!

Thanks, Dinty... you and I know full well that not only does our elite PM care less about our military, he's trying very hard for a seat on the UN!!

YES.... he is Obama's double and then some (he's certainly trying to be). Many of us are so sick of his 'climate change'; he took his entourage of delegates to he Paris Conference and our taxpayers will be paying for that for the next 30 years or more. Global Warming, Global Cooling, Climate Change. The names change, but the use of it stays the same. I read an excellent article online which appeared in the UK Daily Mail: "world leaders were duped into investing billions over manipulated global warming data"... a very interesting read! So between our 'Climate Change' being rammed down our throats, we also have this latest motion passed (M103) on Islamophobia! This motion does more harm than good by citing one faith group or one set of beliefs as requiring “special protection” in a country that has become multi-cultural! Well enough of my rant for this evening. But Maisie, thanks for your input... always on the mark!! I do wish others would do their homework like you!
