Medicare Fraud

This a short version of what happened to my insurance company. A short while back I was in for a followup visit with my Primary Physician. As they always do they drew blood for analysis. I always run high in the cholesterol and triglycerides. The Doctor got in contact with my cardiologist and they thought another medication was in order. Somewhat reluctantly I agreed. The order was placed and I was contacted by the Pharmacy that it was ready and my copay would be $45 dollars. Well considering I already take another pill for angina that costs me $45 dollars I was not impressed. I in turn checked on the internet for another way to handle this problem. According to the Mayo Clinic I should watch my calorie and cholesterol intakes. Keep the total cholesterol intake under 200 for a person with heart trouble.

I told the pharmacy that I was refusing the Medication. In a meeting with the Cardiologist, he agreed that would be a good idea to try. Well last week I received a statement from my insurance provider of what medications they had paid for. The one I refused was on the list. As my hearing ain't the greatest the wife called the insurance provider and they immediately transferred her to the fraud dept. She explained the problem and they took down the pharmacy's phone number and told her that they would handle it from there. They also told her that this pharmacy has a stack of complaints for the same thing.

It was just a fluke that I caught it as I usually don't even look at that page, I just happened to look and caught it. As this is a nationwide pharmacy I did some rough figures on just what they charged my insurance company. If the pharmacy charged that to every insurance provider, it could run into the hundreds of millions of dollars.

I bet it would scare the dickens out of us if we actually knew how much Medicare was being ripped off for
