Gov. Bobby Jindal blasts Sen. Mary Landrieu for ‘throwing entire state under bus’ as racist, sexist

Is there a campaign this fall that can’t be described as “remarkably divisive”? That doesn’t mean there isn’t still time to win the award for “most divisive,” and Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu Thursday made a bid for the prize by attributing President Obama’s unpopularity in the state to his race.

In an interview with NBC News, Landrieu explained, “I’ll be very, very honest with you. The South has not always been the friendliest place for African-Americans. It’s been a difficult time for the president to present himself in a very positive light as a leader.”

Gov. Bobby Jindal wasn’t about to let that remark go unchallenged.

Senator Landrieu’s comments are remarkably divisive. She appears to be living in a different century. Her comments clearly imply that President Obama and his policies are unpopular in Louisiana because of his ethnicity. That is a major insult by Senator Landrieu to the people of Louisiana and I flatly reject it. Obama’s policies, which Mary supports, are unpopular here, and the other 49 states, because they are ill advised, liberal, and don't work. His administration has also proven to be incompetent. Trying to blame it on race is ridiculous.
