Can't say I've ever did what you have done, only came close to doing that once, but you have no idea how many white pickup trucks that are here in Texas till you go shopping and come out to find your own truck in the parking lots. They all look the same from a distance. Taking the old Dodge is a different story, not many own a 20 year old one ton dually out here, I just have to remember to look for that truck and not the white one when I use it instead.

Don't feel bad. It happens to all of us.

I have done the same thing. I remember one time walking out of a store being horrified seeing what looked like my car very badly dented. Luckily it wasn't my car.

That's funny. One time my husband and I drove our white Volkswagen to a nearby city and ate in a restaurant there. When we went out to the parking lot it was dark and the car was gone. We called police and made a report of our stolen car, then they were so nice they drove us all the way home about 20 miles away. OMG the car was sitting in our driveway??? It was like the Twilight Zone how the car made it all the way home without us. Another tenant where we lived happened to be in that same restaurant with a friend who also drove a white Volkswagen. They finished dinner and took our car by mistake and somehow their car key fit our ignition. We drove them all the way back to the restaurant to get their correct car. The chances of something like that ever happening are a million to one. Our car key started their car, and their key started our car.

    Quoting  :

Hi Earthy: Another weird key situation happened to me. I was living on the 16th floor in a highrise building, but one day I got off the elevator at the wrong floor by mistake. The hallways were the same, everything looked exactly like my floor, so I had no idea I was on the wrong floor. I walked down two apartments as usual, used my key, and OMG all my furniture was gone and I was looking at totally different furniture. What a weird feeling, like you went to work one day and when you came home someone else was living in your apartment. Then I looked at the apartment number on the door and saw I was on the wrong floor.

After that I had my own locks changed, so hopefully no-one had a key that would open my apartment door.
