My husband Eric, was a young teen at the time of Dunkirk, and told me a lot about those days.

It was a ill planned mess.

I rarely watch war movies. I always joke that I know how they ended...... LOL

Wow, you and Maisie discussing a movie are so adorable, you sound like a couple of geniuses discussing the secrets of the universe. lol I see and read everything I can about any aspect of World War 2 so that movie sounds great to me. I haven't been to a movie theatre in years and don't plan to but I'll look forward to seeing that movie on DVD or on t.v.

"Ill-planned"? What "plan"???? "Run until you reach the Channel and hope for the best" is about as much planning as there was.

The retreat to Dunkirk first saw Benard Montgomery come into prominence. He seemed to be one of the few British generals who actually knew what they were doing.

Is Earthy correct that you believe my earlier reply was catty? That was not my intention in saying something nice about you and Maisie. It's sad that even compliments are misconstrued here in this combative atmosphere. I saw your earlier response to me using the word 'catty' but it never occurred to me that you might be referring to what I wrote.

"Pick a little, talk a little, pick a little, talk a little,
Cheep cheep cheep, talk a lot, pick a little more"

Not so much catty as residents of a hen house.
