Hi Liszt: I can see how same sex marriage might be against a business owner's religion, but I don't think the Christian Bible even mentions it. The Bible does speak against h*mosexuality though, so would that baker be o.k. with having gay customers but just against making them a wedding cake? I really don't believe religion is the reason that gay couple were refused a wedding cake. I think it's likely that the bakery owner just doesn't want gay people in his store, or walking down the street, or on t.v., or to exist at all.

This isn't about a gay couple coming into a bakery and buying something that's already on display. This is about them coming into the store and requesting something specially made. That involves participation of the baker. But that same baker would sell a basic cake or any other "off the shelf" pastry to anyone. A gay couple should simply ask for a basic wedding cake, with no names or dolls on it, and nothing else that requires the Christian baker to distinguish it as a cake for a gay wedding. Just the basic icing and decorations that might appear on any cake made to order. That would not require him to endorse or provide for something contrary to his faith. Then the gay couple could purchase the materials to do the final touches themselves. Then the baker can say "I sold you a cake that does not conflict with my faith, and what you do with it after that is not my place to judge" JMHO. GBU all, Gavin

Not all discrimination is a bad thing. People discriminate about things all the time. It's called freedom of choice. If you receive two invitations to play a sport, and choose to play tennis rather than golf, are you evil for your discrimination? GBU, Gavin
