I agree Liszt. I think things like the Civil War, the 1960s Civil Rights Movement just as examples, and possibly some other times, Federal intervention was appropriate. But more often than not, today the Fed has gotten way out of hand. There are some things which are not enumerated in the U.S. Constitution and therefore the Fed has no business demanding individual States to comply with what Washington wants. We are a union, but a union of SEPARATE INDIVIDUAL STATES. We are NOT obligated to be identical in all respects. More States need to stand up to the Fed and just say NO, and refuse to comply unless the issue in question is clearly enumerated in the U.S. Constitution. Like Health Insurance, Education is not there either.

BTW Knx, the governor you mentioned in your blog may well have been wrong. I can't say because I don't know all the details and I have no say in the matter because I don't live there. Perhaps it would make sense for Tennessee and perhaps not. However, by the logic of your blog, are you saying it's okay to repeat a mistake now, because someone from the opposition made that same mistake in the past? Is that wise?

GBU all,

Gavin

Gossip is good, especially if it's about me.

On the matter free community college....

I caught bit on one of the evening US news programs where the reporter was interviewing people in Ohio.

One gentleman was opposed to free community colleges because the US had more important things to fix like Syria and the mess in the Middle East generally.

Glad to see that there are so many Americans with a global view who want to fix the problems of others at their own expense.

Good question.

It's obvious that if that money were spent on sorting out the Middle East then it would not be wasted.
