I prefer the upbeat stuff.

The largo from Il Barbieri is still my fav.

Can one cry in whisky or wine rather than beer?

A great illustration of how we can have many different interpretations of the same thing. I have a sister who is a musician who is much like you in how she interprets sadness. She also feels that experiences the sadness and expressing it via music increases her creativity. Even as a young kid she would focus on the emotion of pain. On the other hand I was always running around giggling, exclaiming "Oh, Pretty" while chasing butterflies (maybe even a unicorn or 2 at times). as we grew older we learned to understand each other but I don't think we will ever be able to be each other.

For me it seems to be as simple and childlike as my explanation to Lulu about what positive means for me. If it makes me feel good it's positive. If it makes me feel bad it's negative. It's not that I don't experience sadness and emotional pain. It's just that I process it as quickly as I can then move on to things that make me feel good.

Perhaps for some, like you and my sister, the act of feeling emotinal sadness is your positive experience and is what makes you feel good. In my family's case my sister and I have a mom who was chronically depressed and fearful and a father who was always unrealistically positive, risk taking and happy. She appears to have taken after one side and me after the other. Ah, the genetic milkshake.

Humans are such a diverse and complex species.
