" CHITO, THE CROCODILE MAN AND POCHO"

Crocodiles are considered to be dangerous and deadly animals. They have one of the strongest bites in the world and rarely develop an emotional bond with other animals or humans. Some people have supposedly formed relationships with crocodiles, but they end up being suddenly attacked at a later point. These reasons make this Costa Rican fisherman, named Chito, a man’s story all more extraordinary. The story about him and his friend Pocho, will change everything you know about crocodiles.

Chito, the man, who grew up with a strong love and connection with nature. He made a habit of helping out injured animals at an early age, so when he saw a young crocodile injured from a gunshot, Chito immediately made it his mission to nurse that young croc, after discovering the bullet that wounded its body. After three years of patience and dedication, the crocodile recovered. Its through this process that Chito formed an incredible bond with the giant reptile that most considered incapable of love. He said, "My first wife left me because I spent so many hours with Pocho, but I can get another wife but Pocho is one in a million."

Over more than twenty years, he's developed an extraordinary relationship with the 16 ft giant, the two swim and play together, even in total darkness...with the huge creature while riding on its back. It has proven that Pocho has the ability to show compassion and emotions towards Chito, something that is not normal with other crocodiles. They are best friends and lifelong companions. Chito isn’t a daredevil animal trainer either, rather than trying to tame Pocho thr giant, as a companion and has even learned to speak Pocho’s language. Their relationship is moving and touching and it’s something we would never expect from a such a huge crocodile.

Swimming with crocodiles is a dangerous act that one cannot dare take it for granted. Watch amazing the photos and you'll be stunned. The man who swims with this giant crocodile, feeds it, plays with it, commands it and even sleeps with it. Acts that many will term it as being extremely dangerous. Known as "The Crocodile Man". A man who is known to have tamed such a giant crocodile and developed a strong relationship with it. These acts had attracted tourists from all over the world as they love seeing the close relationship between the two creatures. Take a look at these photos.

I think I've seen a clip about this on U-tube but I think they said that the croc had an arrow in one of its eyes and the guy removed it and nursed the croc.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

Boogie hi,

Am glad for your visit and your nice comments for which I thank you. You are quite right Boogie, the story shows how even such a wild reptile could eventually have faithfulness or fidelity to such a human being who had cared for it. It is surely very rare but it has happened even though.
Thanks again Boogie and enjoy your day.
Lisa.

Hermit hello,

I appreciate your nice comments, the clip could have been on U.tube too, I read a documentary on it and wanted to post the story for the readers. You are correct and I've also mentioned above that the croc has a gun shot and was going to die but that brave man could save it and tame it also. It is really astonishing as for such a huge crocodile really. Thank you for your visit and comments. Have a good day.
Lisa.

Hi Lisa: What a beautiful story. The crocodile even looks like it's smiling. I wonder what the difference is between a crocodile and an alligator?

Just4AFew hi,

How glad I am, reading from you on this blog of mine. Thank you for your visit and comments which I appreciate very much. That young croc was injured by a gun shot near its eye as it was stated and that fisherman had taken care of it and grew it as a pet. Astonishingly, the crocodile has accepted him as a companion though as huge as it was. The above photos prove it. And it never did anything wrong to the man, They swam as good friends and it stayed with the man for more than 20 years also. Thanks again Just4. I wish you all my best.
Lisa.

Tom hi,

I have really never met Captain Hook, if I do one day, I won't forget to tell him about this true story!!. Do you know where he may be? I could send it to him !!. Or he maybe a good meal for the croc too!!. Just kidding as well.
Thank you for your visit and your nice comments as usual. I have read about that shark too. How wonderful and amazing these animals could behave as such. There was another similar case about a huge whale too. I am by the way, a keen admirer of animals and am so happy to read about them. Thank you once more Tom, have a wonderful day.
Lisa.

Fossil hello,

Delighted reading from you on this blog of mine. Your visit and comments are well appreciated. It's true and I've read so many sad events happened to several other people by dangerous animals. But.... it's really amazing how this crocodile, got so attached to this man who has cared for it in his agony and he could cure it and tame it also. They were such good friends and companions as well and that croc never did any harm to him. Though they swam together in that river day and night!! And the man played with it as a toy also. Really astonishing!!. But Chito the man, is still alive till now. It seems that Pocho prefers other meal than to eat up the one who has taken care of it during all those 20 years. Very stunning really of such a wild croc!!. Thanks for your comments Fossil, enjoy your day with your family.
Lisa.

Bijou, hi dear,

Am so glad reading from you on my blog as usual. Your visit and nice comments are so much appreciated. Thank you for appreciating this story Bijou. It is really an exceptional story as till now the man who has cared for the croc, is still alive and never got harmed by that croc. It's so wonderful. Bijou, an alligator is smaller than a predatory crocodile, they are semi- aquatic reptiles but the crocodile is much bigger with a horny texture skin and more aggressive too. I wonder how Chito the man, could live with such a predator for over 20 years. Thank you again Bijou, hope reading from you again in the future. Enjoy a wonderful day.
Lisa.

Tom hi again,

Thanks for coming back to remind me about Captain Hook. I had forgotten totally about him, though I know it in FRENCH, under the french name, I had read and watched the movie too. His name in French is
"Capitaine Crochet". Thanks for reminding me. I have replied the Q of Bijou above with mostly the same explanation. Have a pleasant weekend Tom.
Lisa.
