I think your blog is absolutely on target. There are probably some 'middle class' liberals who would not mind having the refugees moved into their neighborhoods, but you can bet the farm, the rich ones wouldn't. But it does make a cute, emotional, political ploy.

    Quoting  :

Smiling here...... Joe has a brother the same way..... he doesn't worry about where others in his family live, but he is a staunch Democrat liberal, and he lives in a ritzy, all white neighborhood.
I know what I have done and continue to do for others, and I don't have to justify my actions to anyone. But I will admit that I would not like to have an entire "camp" of those refugee immigrants moved into our area. Too much uncertainty about their safety to our country. A single family, that is coming to the USA to become legal citizens, is different.
Why can't they be "boarded" in similar countries to their own, and we help foot the bill, until their own country is safe for them to return? Would not they be more comfortable in a country with similar language and culture?
People that come to the USA should be prepared to assimilate into ours, not form their own little pocket with their own laws.
So, little Alex's parents should bring little Omran and any family to their house, and see the reaction of their neighbors!

Oh, and to answer the question in your title........... No, it isn't cute. What the parents hoped to gain is anybody's guess. Publicity perhaps. Maybe a communication from a president that they could file away for the kid.

Lulu,

I don't get it. It easy for some some here to make the mistake.. But how can you?

Christians, Muslims, religion........how can you be so confused?

Immigration when singularly define by religion, changes everything
Immigration when an asylum from religious persecution, must be defined by inescapable and adversarial positions.

There is no major religion that demands as much control as Islam.

Muslim refugees, are refugees from what? From a Muslim conflict? or a non-Muslim conflict?
Who's side are they on, and who's persecuting them?
Are they giving up the control their religion has over them? That's causing the refugee condition?
When it comes to it.. Who's responsible... Is their religion responsible?

So, Lulu, as you should be well aware religion changes everything.

Muslim refugees are not the same as Syrian refugee, Iranian refugees, and Middle East refugees. Muslim refugee are defined by religion, created by religion, and controlled by religon. Muslim refugees are not refugees, but subversives and invaders.
Controlled by religion
Controlled by religion
Controlled by religion!

Controlled by a religion.

That will tell them, everyday

Those that have taken them in, gave them a new beginning, fed and sheltered them.
Those are the one's responsible.
