Tyson is naïve. We humans have always reasoned and always will. He fails to realize that every human being uses reason when they are making choices. Each of us always opts for what we think will be the best outcome.

What he's not taking into account is that everyone has different priorities, and assigns different weights to them.

We all want what is good, but the definition of good varies from person to person. Hence we will always continue to reason within that limited framework, and our reasons will differ from person to person.

(Tyson is also naïve to think science is never biased or fickle either. People choose the "science" they like.)
