Thank you Maisie...that's a wonderful example of the lack of understanding of atheism!!

Praise, are you JHK in disguise? You are so similar.

To answer your question...I'm pretty sure Lulu would accept that as his choice. What would you do if your grandson became an atheist?

Just as she, you, and others have great lack of understanding of Christianity............. but that doesn't stop her and you from attacking anyone who posts anything with a Christian perspective.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Doing all of that no more makes you a Christian or makes you an expert on Christians, any more than sitting in a car lot makes you a car or an expert on cars.
I will not debate these things with you, it is pointless, because Christianity is a condition of the heart and can't be explained, it has to be experienced.

Excellent point. Anything spiritual has to be experienced no matter what path a person chooses. An individual won't have the experience if they don't want to seek it. Since spirituality transcends human vocabulary and often range of perception it is not something that can be debated. It comes to each person in a way that is meaningful to that individual. You either have the experience or you don't and usually everyone's is individual.

Mrs Joe, I used to have a lot of respect for you, I really thought you were the kind of Christian I do respect ... just like many of my friends who live the life Christ gave them.

Unfortunately, you seem to have changed and joined others in delighting in demeaning those they dislike.
How can anyone profess to live a "good Christian life" when day in, day out they blog about stupid liberals, stupid atheists, and stupid stupid folk who do nothing bit post flowers and kittens. Not to mention the evil Muslims/Chinese and anybody they feel is not up to their level of understanding. And, I almost forgot... gay and transgender folk!

I do not hate "Christians" or Christianity, only the ones who profess the religion but go through life hating everyone who didn't choose the same as them. And then lay the blame at the atheist/liberals door by saying they are too stupid to understand.

How on earth can you possibly accuse us of being unable to understand religion? Do you really think we are thick? The mere fact that I am an atheist is testament to the FACT that I did years of hard deep thinking and did everything I could to learn before I ever came to a decision. And believe me, it was not an easy decision.

And here you come with your naïve and empty headed notion that atheists "believe in nothing and don't understand religion"

I believe in many things, but most important of all is that we are all spiritual beings, all individual parts of one spiritual life and our greatest task in that life is to treat each other with care and respect while we are here.

If that's not good enough for anyone here then nothing can ever be enough!

I do not need to be told what "good" is, especially by people who profess to be "good" but spend every day in life reviling others, just for fun!. Have you even counted the amount of daily blogs that rant about everyone but " white American Christian Republicans"!

How the French the Brits the Canadians and the rest of the world are stupid ungrateful cowards? Read with your eyes open, it's not all anti-Christian.
It breaks my heart to see what the blogs have become. I stopped blogging and commenting for a long time but lost it this last couple of days, too many trolls and bullies here now.

SO...IT WAS "THE LOVE OF GOD" THAT MADE YOU SAY I SHOULD STICK TO PEEKING UP KILTS WAS IT!

THAT'S A WHOPPER IF EVER I HEARD ONE.

AND... WHEN YOU SAY...... "THEY ARE NOT LOVING AND GOD IS LOVE WE REACT TO IT AS HUMANS"....ARE YOU SAYING THAT ATHEISTS ARE NOT HUMAN?

WHAT ON EARTH ARE THEY TEACHING YOU OVER THERE???

WHATEVER IT IS, SOMEBODY HAS THEIR RELIGIOUS TEACHING TOTALLY SKEWED

'I'm trying, as I have many times before on this site to understand what these people actually think, but every time the subject is brought up, the wall is raised.....I know that the Evangelical Denomination is all about the Emotions......about feeling Jesus in their hearts, without thinking much about what they think and what they think about their beliefs. They keep saying Christianity is a condition of the heart......but is it accompanied by a mind or is it for the sole purpose of obliterating the mind?.......

They say I attack them when they bring up Christian content.....It looks that way to them because they see every challenge as attack. They really believe that they shouldn't have to put up with any questioning of their beliefs even when their beliefs are impacting other people's lives..' [lulugravy]

I don't know if this might be of interest to you lulu but if I could selectively quote [preface] from 'Silent Music: The Science of Meditation' [first published 1974 - William Johnston, Jesuit priest/Zen practitioner]. I feel he may be able to satisfactorily address some of your pressing questions (?).

'Among the many fascinating characteristics of the new age is the contemporary longing for dialogue. Already Hindu and Jew, Christian and Buddhist are coming together in sincerity and harmony to exchange experiences and to explore common goals. And as interfaith dialogue gets underway, it finds itself extending a hand of welcome to an unexpected newcomer on the scene; namely, the scientist. For now we find a group of serious-minded scientists, students of consciousness who express a desire to learn more about the great religious traditions which have accumulated such wealth of experiential knowledge about the human mind. These are scholars who feel their research will be incomplete unless it takes into consideration the experiences of the mystic and the discoveries of the man who meditates.

The religious activity that interests these scientists is not speculative theology but meditation. And this is indeed fortunate because meditation is precisely the area in which great religions find themselves most united. We found that dialogue based on theology and philosophy did not achieve much, but when we talked from experience we suddenly discovered how closely united we really were. So it is refreshing to see that the religio-scientific dialogue, like the inter-religious dialogue, will begin with meditation. For me meditation, in the last analysis, is the search for wisdom or the relishing of wisdom when it has been found. As such it is a word and a practice which unites us all - religionists, scientists, businessmen and statesmen can claim that they are looking for, and feel the need of, wisdom. And how beautiful this attractive lady is! I am reminded of the Hebrew sage who loved her passionately and sang:

'I loved her and sought her from my youth,
and I desired to take her for my bride
and I became enamoured of her beauty'' [Wisdom 8:2]

Thank you Maisie, and my apologies if it seems I have overtaken your blog space.

I see that you have twisted my words ... yet again. Why do you completely ignore my actual words?

I VERY CLEARLY SAID THAT I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH REAL CHRISTIANS..."AS A GROUP" OR OTHERWISE.
ONLY THOSE WHO PROFESS CHRISTIANITY WHILE THEY EXHIBIT ANYTHING BUT!!!
IT'S EASY TO SAY THAT "NOBODY IS PERFECT" TO EXCUSE THEMSELVES WHILE THEY EXPECT THE ONES THEY DECRY TO BE SO.

THAT ALSO GOES FOR ANY OTHER FORM OF RELIGION...A HYPOCRITE IS A HYPOCRITE.

You "sense a deep profound hurt" in me? Why on earth do you assume that I blame Christianity for my atheism...and just HOW can you assume that?

IT WAS MY CONSCIENCE THAT CAUSED ME TO BECOME AN ATHEIST...A CONSCIOUS DECISION, NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY FORM OF IMAGINED HURT.

I was born Scottish I had no choice in that...I was not born a religion in that I did have a choice.

And there's your problem, the reason you won't ever understand what atheism is. The simple fact that you work on the premise that everyone starts out with belief and faith in a religion. And never questions that.

Somehow, I get the feeling that you know all this and just want to belittle me.

Carry on trying, you can't...my beliefs are very real and just because you can't see or understand them, you'll die trying

" figure Lulu could give a 1000 word thesis on this. What is so ironic about Atheists?

Answer They're always talking about God."

Why is that so ironic?
You are always talking about liberals/ atheists/ Muslims etc, but you're very obviously not any of them?
Are only Christians allowed to talk about God?

How on earth would you know what atheists talk about anyway? All you know is to hate them.

Oh deary me, can't stop laughing!

Did you really think I'd be taken in by this drivel, that I'd be quivering and shaking with self pity and self doubt?
Do you think I don't recognise manipulation when I see it?

No, I don't suppose you do...you are so full of arrogance that you can't bring yourself to believe others could have any intelligence.
You need to give credit where it's due...a little credit goes a long way. It might surprise you to know just how much brain power there is in SFF...and you never know, your life might be happier!

I've never thought that my beliefs were anything out of the ordinary, just part of normal life decisions which I've never felt the need to defend...until I came to SFF. I'm a very ordinary person, never been anything else.

Only idiots think like that.

Go into any university, school or college religious establishment (religious or not) and you'll find that God figures into lots of other subjects. One of the basic courses of learning, is Humanities and philosophy, history and culture. Religion is ingrained in human culture and society, it would be impossible to try to cut religion out of discussion.

So, if it's impossible...why do you expect atheists to do so?

Don't excuse yourself by saying "nobody's perfect" while expecting others to be what you are not. That's hypocrisy.

Laughing again here.
I tried a more than a few times to disagree (politely) with you, didn't work, you just called me stupid! Which you do with everyone who disagrees with you.

You post at least one blog a day, and in every one of them you belittle liberals, atheists, people who blog about "flowers and kittens", Europeans...in fact, reading your blogs there seems to be no-one you think worthy of treating with respect or manners. Sounds like fear to me.
Don't you realise that people might get a little sick of continually being berated and ridiculed by you, constantly being told they are stupid and unintelligent?

Do you really believe that you use respect and good manners when you call a woman here a "bitch"? Or call Muslims "hanky heads" ?
Brits and Europeans ungrateful cowards. That list could be longer too but I can't be bothered.
Why is it ok for you to do all that ... but when anyone protests we are "attacking" you?

Why is it that you think you can be allowed to say and do as you like, but nobody else can?

Nah, why would I care what someone like that thinks of me, especially when I know what I've done with my life and they don't.
