Without voter ID, I could see where it would be easier for someone to show up and use someone else's name to vote, especially early voting where you don't vote in your usual polling place.
Here, in our polling place, people know people by face and name and they still look at our ID these days. A long time ago, even though we carried our ID in with us, the election judges never looked at it. I walked in, the first one said, "Hi Pat." and turned to the one with the list and watched her check off my name. Meanwhile, the judges were asking about the kids. Ahhhh, the beauty of small communities at voting time. Now, they glance at the ID and say, "Yep, that's you." and laugh.
But voting early is at the county court house and that person may or may not know me. I appreciate the ID rule. Hopefully, it keeps them dead folks from showing up on election day like they used to do in Chicago.

While cleaning out junk the other day I found my old Canadian immigrant status card. Seems I never canceled it. Think they will accept that?
