It's true that satellites cannot effectively measure changes in earth temperature.

It's also true that the earth's oceans provide a heat sink, and the effects of it too can't be measured.

I understand the laws of thermodynamics.

And with that understanding, I have to concede that since we can't accurately measure either temperature of the atmosphere or ocean, Maisie is absolutely correct and it is silly to assume the earth is heating up because we have no way of knowing.

Gavin

I am usually quite moderate in my response to what people post in blogs and like to respond with measured arguments but this blog is total and utter drivel in every respect.

The projections for global warming have been and remain steady at a rate of 0.16-0.2 C per decade. That is assuming that CO2 emission levels are reduced at the rates promised in the Kyoto agreement. That is 2C above today's levels by 2100 and 3C (3.6-5.4F to you). above 1880 (usually taken as the starting point of measuring 'pre-industrial temperatures.)

The total warming over the last 130 years has just topped 1C and all ten of the hottest years since records began have occurred this century.

The global land-ocean temperature index has climbed 0.96C (1.78F) since 1880 and the temperature as measured by Meteorological stations by 1.1C (2F). The rate of rise has accelerated throughout this period and this is particularly marked since 1950. There has been NO HIATUS since 1998 - or any other date. If you still cling to this belief I suggest you research the latest information from your own American AAAS , the IPCC or any other reputable body.

The global mean temperature (running 5 year average ) almost perfectly mirrors the rise in CO2 levels from 0.031% to 0.040% which is exclusively due to anthropomorphic emissions.

With temperature rises of 2C this century even the most ardent of climate change optimists admit that the effects of the warming will be deleterious to human and this is the LOW end of the projections. The upper end is more than 6C (12F).

The most farcical of your claims is that China and India are not playing their part in producing renewable energy and reducing CO2 emissions but are leaving it all up to the poor, long suffering US taxpayer. This is complete fabrication. China produces TWICE AS MUCH renewable energy as the USA (remember their economies are comparable in size) and India produces 25% more renewable energy than Germany (long held up as the epitome of a responsible energy producer and beacon of the renewable movement) even though its economy is half the size of Germany's.

When you post such ridiculously ill researched and completely fallacious tripe please do not expect people to take your arguments seriously.

    Quoting Adolpho:
You are using the tactics that Maisie and Litzo use. That is to say that you assume that because Maisie's earlier supposition doesn't hold water there are no other measurements of earth warming. Perhaps a study of melting ice shelf in Antarctic and the consequential increase in sea ice would be a another indicator. But of course you and the dynamic duo don't consider other alternatives. That tendency is , unfortunately, not an indicator of an intelligent inquiry into factual evidence.
Perhaps you didn't notice, but I pulled those aforementioned indicators from the comment of another blogger that was trying to refute her. Perhaps that other blogger should have mentioned what other alternatives they find compelling?

Altho I find it odd that the commenter would cite the above methodology, and, only later to reject them when their obvious implications dispute his own foregone conclusions?

Gavin

Look up HAARP (not the angels one) on 'da toob place' and ponder global warming after that.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

Tell you what...I think the real "ignorant asses"...not to mention downright racists, are the ones who post pictures of toddlers and call them jihadists.

And they call themselves Christians?

They are not even human.
