 When did our presidential election procedures become so comical?

We are trying to elect a President of the United States and I keep feeling I'm back in junior high school electing a class president.

At this stage, the hell with party politics or political agenda. The candidate I would support has but one thing to do and that is honestly cross party lines.

But how the hell, can he/she get on the ballot?

So back to junior high......and the candidate gets elected because of how they look, their gender, and how many friends they have, which clique they're in, and whether they have a pocket protector and a neat pair of glasses or a jock strap and acne medicine. They must also promise to provide a vending machine in every hallway!
