The Jones Act didn't kill people....hurricanes kill people. The boat you get on.....is the boat you sink with If you build it....they will come, but you can't do your job if you lose your job. Regulation don't sink boat.....people sink boats

you totally missed the point. the regulation did nothing...it's the gun of the murder. people made decisions that made it happen. the fact is regulation cost people money...It's their choice if they want to spend it or not. It's what it's all about. protecting jobs, protecting the environment, protecting people are reasons for regulations. Regulation cost people money to hopefully try and save something. you can make the argument about regulations, but picking and choosing is not the right way to go about it. make the argument we shouldn't have so many regulations, don't pick one just to try make that argument. It's what you do with everything, pick and choose to support an argument, when what you pick and choose is not the real argument your making.

All you thought was the regulations were bad and then decided you could use it, like you use everything. What skariff says is the point of the jones act, and the accident that followed... It about people and their choices, not about regulations. What do you think were all idiots? Briefly, the Jones Act, a little-known act from 1920 that first killed American shipbuilding and now has had its hand in killing American sailors. maisie, it's fricken almost 100 years old.....where have you been for the last hundred years? Just now figured you'd bring it up. Why didn't Eienhower fix it, Why didn't Nixon fix it, Reagan or the Bushes.fix it. Where were they when all of this was going on....Please tell why it's so important now, and WTF it has to do with OBAMA!

McCain had proposed an amendment to the XL pipeline bill to repeal the Jones Act, which requires that goods shipped between U.S. ports are carried by U.S.-built, flagged, crewed and owned ships. But there was vocal opposition from the shipping industry, maritime unions, manufacturers and national defense experts, and McCain failed to garner enough support to bring his amendment to a vote maisie, Don't you think you're a little too focus on Democrats and Unions? I would have a good idea that many conservative opposed bring the bill forth. I mean, he could even get it to floor in a Republican run congress. It must have been a Democrat obstruction? Wouldn't you think? Of course you would.....

I don't know about the rank and file republicans...but I do know that many Republican in power don't want the bill repealed. The unions and Democrats are the least of the problems in repealing the Act. the idea of outsourcing the shipping industry goes way beyond the unions and the Democrats We have been through the idea of TOO BIG TO FAIL....That's not a Democrat idea or a Union idea. Again, I'm not supporting the Act, in fact I'm against it. I just refuse to use it...like you do. My non-support of the ACT, is based on.... I don't give a shit where the chips may fall. Your position is that the chips must fall in your pot, before you can make a decision. This is where your integrity comes into question.. I honestly don't believe, at this point, you care about the Jones Act. You care about regulations in general, especially those that work against you. Your integrity, in my mind, come into questions because I honestly don't know where you stand on the Jones act. I know NOW you stand against it, because you get to use it. I just don't know where you'd stand if you went through ALL the repercussions of repealing the act.
