Yes agree cursing at sheep a little extreme but during short stint as rouseabout (shed hand) witnessed many incidents of sheep endure deep cuts from electric shears, sharply banged on face (have seen an eye literally pop out as direct result from blow), kicked and roughly thrown headlong down chute when job completed. While some cuts were crudely sewn up on the spot, many deep cuts were left untended. Shearers are paid per fleece and can also be heavily competitive in their bid to be 'top gun'. For a good few, their short temperedness is often due to hangovers as many head off to pub for a serious drinking session after a hard day's work and then feel pressure to perform the next day (on which their livelihood hinges as well as (for some) reputation). Not a good mix and the hapless sheep incidental.

I can't believe they investigated that. Now I've really heard everything.
