Hi Maisie. As usual, an excellent blog. I'm reminded of a recent one by a liberal, who in the process of blaming white males for the housing meltdown in 08, (with the inherent implications about the demographic of conservatives and Republicans) claiming it was a "genetic" thing. Obviously those on the left don't realize how bigoted some of they themselves are. (Perhaps a majority of them, but I can't say for sure. Certainly a large minority anyway.) That blogger failed as most people do today, to consider the fact that for 50 years now it has become politically correct to regard conservatives negatively (for this discussion I'll include Libertarians too, or any other non-left leaning groups, and usually with untrue or exaggerated misstatements for anyone other than their liberal selves) and in vile terms of derision. In so doing they spread the unchallenged implication that "obviously" they are the primary "evil, greedy, oppressive, etc, group. Anyway, that blogger focused on white males as the only, or predominant (assumed without question) evil in the world. But he failed to observe that the non-left demographics have been unfairly libeled and slandered by a predominantly liberal media for half a century, and thus many otherwise intelligent people of different ethnic or genders fear being considered among their ranks. (Altho most often when conservative viewpoints become understood by honest people, the ranks of conservatives swell.) My point is, when liberals criticize or place blame on anyone, it is ONLY when they hope to denigrate conservative values, and they don't even pay attention to whether their desired new ranks are harmful or even dangerous.) The liberals and liberal media won't do ANYTHING that might jeopardize their chance of adding more numbers to their voting blocks. And they are too stupid to realize (or don't care) that they are setting themselves up to have their own throats slit eventually, right along with everyone else's, by catering to and inviting even the most evil elements of the world population into their fold. EXACTLY!!! And for the men, it starts out when they are in high school or college and think they can impress the babes by pretending to be caring, thoughtful, and compassionate! "Pseudo-intellectuals" Dress the stereotype and use the same lingo without having to acquire any REAL intellectual integrity. GBU, Gavin

As a White Male of Privilege I am guilty and I do owe. Being an immigrant to North America is no excuse since I have benefited all my life from the racist system that rewards people like me at the expense of the downtrodden. But they are going to have to pry my filthy lucre (earned from the toil of the underclass) from my dying hands!

Sounds about right. Brings to mind an exchange I had in the Bay area years ago with a bank teller. I was cashing some travelers' cheques, and had to show id. She looked at my Alberta driver's license and asked where that was.
